Joey, so great to have you on the platform and excited to have you share your wisdom with our community today. Communication skills often play a powerful role in our ability to be effective and so we’d love to hear about how you developed your communication skills.
I was tought from a young age that a closed mouth are listening ears. If you want to effectively communicate with anyone, you have to listen to what is being said. Now that we have listening we need a clear message. Being able to compose your thoughts and form an understandable statement is very important.
I’ve learned that sometimes communicating is easier when there are fewer words involved. Gathering the most important parts of what you want to say and keep it simple. Ive also learned that giving too much information at once can cause misunderstandings.
Lastly, I believe that taking a minute to think about what you want to say helps you sound more versed and confident. Whether your running a business or just going through your day sounding confident helps create effective communication.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
I’ll start by saying that my advice is not based on looking back. I’m still in my journey and only 3 years in. It’s too soon to look back because it feels like yesterday honestly. But there are a few things that have helped tremendously.
Discipline helps in building a business because it keeps you consistent. Consistency is the blood line to a growing business. You have to keep up or you will get run over by the competition.
A useful skill that helps to start up any business is savey shopping. Recognize what your business needs and shop your options! Remember used items can be as much as 50% off so that’s a great place to start.
To start up you definitely want to be ready with what you need to do the job. What you don’t need is an overpriced piece of equipment just because of its name brand. The more you save the more you can invest into your business.
What’s been one of your main areas of growth this year?
Our consistency has blossomed into a beautiful routine that is second hand nature. Before I started Wolf’s Auto Detailing I worked for a lot of different places. Get up, go to work, clock in and complete assigned tasks. Easy right? Yeah running the business is a whole different ball game and requires attention like a new born.
Now it’s wake up and feed the beast! Post content, send emails, check appointments and make sure the online world has heard from us atleast twice before lunch! Any small business owner will be doing the same. It’s a balancing act but it’s necessary.
