We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Diamond Gardner. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Diamond below.
Diamond, we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?
My resilience actually came from the role models in my life. I was raised by very strong women who were independent and tackled any obstacle that came their way. As I grew older and started experiencing my own challenges, I always remembered who and what I came from. Also being raised on the faith of God helped a lot with my resilience because I knew that everything he allowed to happen was for a reason and for my greater good.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I am the CEO and Founder of Diamond Vanity, which includes all things beauty. Over the years, Diamond Vanity has expanded from selling beauty products through e-commerce to providing beauty services such as luxury lash extensions. I am actually in the process of expanding Diamond Vanity even further to provide commercial space for other entrepreneurs in the beauty industry as well. With my professional experience as a digital marketer, I hope to also help fellow entrepreneurs expand their businesses as I am all about helping others when I can.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
I would say working in customer service before starting my journey definitely helped as I see that unfortunately a lot of small businesses lack that aspect and suffer from it. Along with customer service, I believe it is important to have passion and resilience because those are going to be the two things that keep you going. My advice to those just starting on their journey is to make sure that you have a solid reason behind everything that you do and remember it on the days that you face challenges to keep pushing forward.
Okay, so before we go, is there anyone you’d like to shoutout for the role they’ve played in helping you develop the essential skills or overcome challenges along the way?
My mom has been the most helpful on this journey of entrepreneurship. She always goes above and beyond to make sure that I have access to all of the resources that I may need for what ever it is I decide that I want to do. Having her support and wisdom has helped tremendously and I am forever grateful for it.
