We were lucky to catch up with Gian Calderon recently and have shared our conversation below.
Gian , we’re so excited for our community to get to know you and learn from your journey and the wisdom you’ve acquired over time. Let’s kick things off with a discussion on self-confidence and self-esteem. How did you develop yours?
In the beginning of my journey, I can remember being a completely different person in comparison to who I am today. Before, I was an introvert, I would be this timid boy that would hide in his room all day playing video games and have little to no interaction with anyone other than my friends. However, with the help of this job, I have developed a level of confidence and social skills communicating myself more with guests at events. I am thankful and very proud of the person I have matured into sharing my confidence as it grows each day with every new event I do.

This business has potential to do wonders in the special event industry. The market is growing and so gratefully are my clienteles. What makes this business special is the work ethic I am surrounded within my family. Seeing them work hard day and night inspires me to follow in their footsteps with implementing that work ethic with my own business. Another factor that stands out is my age. My age difference with other businesses is what makes this business stand out for guests to be amazed and impressed of what a young sixteen-year-old has to offer in running a small business. I am very humble and astonished with myself to know how much I have accomplished at such a young age and to know that this is the start of something huge gives me hope and motivation to continue working hard in me myself as a person and as a business owner. Starting June 2023, we will now be incorporating two Flakys Popsicle carts to provide service to multiple parties on a same date! If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
consistency , effort and passion are what have turned into such fundamental key aspects of Flakys Popsicle. Consistency of giving the same energy and service through every event has given this business such a boost in the process of expanding our business. The effort and passion are a must in making this business do wonders in the long run. Because it is that same effort and passion that makes one stand out for continuous bookings. advice for those early in their journeys is to show pride in your business and never look back on going out of your comfort zone you can always unlock such passion with stepping out of it.

An ideal client for me is being thoughtful of our small business and encourages the growth of Flakys Popsicle with sharing with others about our business as we look to provide for large part of our community.
