Meet Andre Johnson

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Andre Johnson a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Andre, we’re so appreciative of you taking the time to share your nuggets of wisdom with our community. One of the topics we think is most important for folks looking to level up their lives is building up their self-confidence and self-esteem. Can you share how you developed your confidence?
I have been confident since I was young. But I believe as a comedian I became more confident with consistency. Even when I wasn’t where I wanted to be I remained confident in having faith that if I keep doing what I’m doing I will achieve what it is that I am trying to achieve.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I am a Comedic Actor from St. Louis, Missouri. I am the owner of a well known comedy brand by the name of DreDayTv that has reached over 200+ million views across social media. I would describe myself as Independent, self-driven or self-motivated as well as relentless. I contain a strong sense of giving back to my community and youth by showing up to schools to talk to students as well as Celebrity Basketball games in my city. Appearing on networks as far as STL TV and also winning Top Comedian in 2022 In St. Louis and being nominated for a second time 2023.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
I believe that the ability to connect with people through laughter and relatability is one quality. The second skill I believe I posse that has helped me during my journey is being relentless. And a third skill that I think that has helped me is being consistent and making sure my goals are aligned with the vision is see for myself and my family.

As we end our chat, is there a book you can leave people with that’s been meaningful to you and your development?
The book that has paid a significant role in my success is Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson’s book. Hustler Smarter, Hustler Harder. One of the biggest things I took from his book is how he discussed that things that scares him the most in life are the things that he goes towards. It’s easy to run or not do something because of fear. But the day you decided to look fear in the eyes and go towards it is the day you will essentially began to accomplish more than you could have ever imagined.
