Meet Jodie Smith

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Jodie Smith. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Jodie below.

Jodie, we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?
My resilience is rooted in the inspiring journey of my parents, both hailing from Jamaica. At just 16, my mother sought a better life and, with incredible courage, asked a stranger visiting Kingston if she could join her in Canada. Fortunately, that stranger said yes, forever altering the course of my mother’s life. This singular act of bravery became a turning point for our entire family. I come from a lineage of individuals marked by heart, courage, strength, and resilience. Growing up, I imbibed the ethos of never giving up, of finding a way even if the door is closed – even if it means crawling through a window. Resilience, for me, isn’t just a concept; it’s a legacy passed down through generations of survivors.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I am the visionary behind The Heart Helper, serving as both CEO and founder. Unveiling a world of self-care, our monthly subscription box is a gateway to managing the mind, strengthening the spirit, and honoring the heart. Our custom curated boxes feature mindfulness journals, natural body butters, organic teas, anxiety/depression-alleviating herbs, candles, crystals, self-help books, and more – all sourced from minority-owned businesses.

Beyond products, we tackle the escalating mental health crisis holistically. Our mission extends to The Heart Helper podcast, where we amplify extraordinary stories from ordinary individuals, prioritizing inspiration over influence. The Heart Helper is not just a brand; it’s a burgeoning conglomerate radiating love and light, passionately dedicated to enhancing well-being on every level.

Exciting developments are underway with the establishment of Heart Helper Health, the sibling company to The Heart Helper. Our mission is to connect the uninsured with quality health insurance, facilitating access to mental health care from skilled professionals through the marketplace, often at minimal to no cost. We’re actively inviting licensed health agents to join our team and be part of this impactful initiative. If you’re passionate about making a difference, reach out to us at [email protected].

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
As I reflect on my journey, I identify authenticity, courage, and resilience as the three pivotal qualities that shaped my path. Embracing my authentic self has organically attracted the right connections, recognizing that even in a sea of similarity, individuality appeals to a specific audience. Courage has been my compass, leading me where fear could not tread. The act of executing ideas, fueled by courage, deserves recognition as many harbor billion-dollar concepts but lack the bravery to act. Resilience, the cornerstone of my journey, has been my constant. Despite falling nine times, I unfailingly rise on the tenth. It’s resilience that fuels entrepreneurs and dreamers, steering us through discouragement, focusing on the destination, and propelling us forward.

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
I am eager to collaborate with like-minded individuals for my podcast, seeking those who radiate positivity and share inspiring stories that resonate with our listeners. Whether it’s tales of overcoming grief, surviving bankruptcy, navigating through a divorce, battling cancer, or triumphing over addiction, I aim to spotlight narratives that offer healing and support. Additionally, For our self-care boxes. I am on the lookout for brands dedicated to health and wellness. If your brand aligns with these values, I’d love to connect.
