We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Kevin Kinkade. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Kevin below.
Hi Kevin, really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?
Finding your purpose in life. Took me a while to figure that one out. I always remember Carlos Castaneda’s mentor Don Juan as saying, “Follow the path with heart.” When I was younger, my life was all about adventure. I was a reader of Jack Kerouac, Franz Kafka, Jack London, Aleister Crowley and Friedrich Nietzsche as well as Castaneda, among others. I guess I followed the path of Kerouac in his classic novel, “On the Road”. My life in my early 20s was a path of travel and adventure as well as decadence. I traveled the country by car, train and hitchhiking. I had friends in school that I went mountain climbing and backpacking with. I indulged in many substances as well in my quest for mind expansion. I worked in outside sales when I finally landed in Houston, Texas and then was on stage as an actor at night. I ended up in Austin where I was hanging out with the pagans and Burning Man crowd, playing bass guitar, keyboards and African drums in jam sessions and festivals until that entire scene just vanished in 2001. I was auditioning for movies and TV until I decided that I needed a real job, so I quit my talent agent and went to work for Apple Computer. Worst mistake of my life. Apple Computer was pure hell and I hated every day of my life there. I finally left and started producing and directing my own movies, erotic art films which had a short bit of success when one of the women I was using as a camera operator started a talent agency with one of her friends and they signed me up. This friend of mine also worked with me on an erotic horror thriller titled “Voices of the Dead” that I wrote and directed. We did not get a chance to market it due to technical issues but as a result, I got another talent agent and was finally working as an actor again, getting auditions and working in film and TV as well as marketing my photography on my website, Wild Street Store, which features many products such as wall art and clothing that I have designed. I also have a book I’ve written titled “The Dream World” that is available on Amazon and am working on a 2nd book titled “Psychic Warfare-Navigating the Matrix”. I guess my real purpose has always been reaching that higher level of awareness. That’s what it’s been about all of my life, reaching that higher vibrational level, gaining knowledge. and these other pursuits, travel, acting, photography, and writing are just challenges towards that end. The ultimate goal is knowledge. Everything else is just a path toward that goal.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I am currently signed with Cohen Entertainment nationally, Pastorini-Bosby in Texas and have just recently signed with TDH Talent Unlimited in Georgia. I am getting lots of auditions for the kinds of roles that I love to play, character roles, outlaws, hitmen, bad guys, quirky characters, etc. I love working with other actors who can really sink into the scene and bring it to life. You can see most of my work now on Amazon and Netflix and by visiting my IMDb page at https://IMDb.me/kevinkinkade. Acting is an addiction and we all need our fix. I love playing music and hope to get back to recording again soon. Most of the music I’ve produced was used in my first movie “Damiana” which unfortunately, is no longer on the market but some of that music is available now in the videos that I’ve produced for marketing my store and are available on my YouTube channel, Wild Street Store. https://www.youtube.com/@wildstreetstore8852 I love designing wall art and clothing, mostly T-shirts, crop tops and hoodies. I use my photography as well as graphic art from people I contract and have also started using AI to generate truly amazing artwork. My store would appeal to a crowd that appreciates motorcycles, horror, pirates, outlaws, gunslingers, the Occult, the paranormal and beautiful women. Also, you can find my book “The Dream World” on Amazon in both Kindle and paperback at the following link. https://www.amazon.com/Dream-World-Kevin-Kinkade/dp/1541115147. Look for my new book “Psychic Warfare-Navigating the Matrix” to be coming out within the next year.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
I believe that my constant quest for knowledge was what sent me on my journey and that continues to be the case today. I developed my psychic skills in my early 20s and have worked as a professional psychic and Tarot reader in festivals, private readings and online at sites like Oranum.com. I was very curious about what life was all about and wanted to expand my knowledge as much as possible and everything that I have done in my life has been towards that goal. This has been my driving force and it hasn’t always been easy. There have been many pitfalls and moments of true despair, where I wondered what my purpose in life really was. In the end though, it was all worth it and I regret nothing. My advice for others on their journey is just this. Follow the path with heart.
Awesome, really appreciate you opening up with us today and before we close maybe you can share a book recommendation with us. Has there been a book that’s been impactful in your growth and development?
Probably the most important book that I have ever read in my entire life and the one that has had the most impact has been “The Anti-Christ” by Freidrich Nietzsche. It was this book that had a profound impact on me. The opening paragraph states, “This book is for the very few. Perhaps not one of them is even living yet.”. Nietzsche knew that he was writing a book that few of his contemporaries would understand but he knew that that thread of knowledge would reach someone out there, somewhere in the future and that thread of knowledge would continue to have an impact on others, finally reaching that moment of critical mass where it would become universal. It changed my entire concept of religion and faith, which I had always questioned before. So many people cling to faith without really challenging that faith. Everything that an artist does in life is a message that is put out there and not everyone will understand. Not everyone will get it. Some will think they do, others will just dismiss it but there will always be someone out there who will pick up that thread and take it to the next level. Even if your statement is just some graffiti art in a back alley, someone will walk down that alley one day, see your art and go, “Aha!” That’s what you do it for. That is your audience.
