Meet Tom Coverly

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Tom Coverly. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Tom , so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?
I have discovered a profound sense of purpose as a motivational speaker committed to addressing the pressing issues of bullying and suicide prevention among middle and high school students. Rooted in my personal experiences of overcoming childhood adversity, particularly bullying, I have emerged as an advocate, channeling my past pain into a powerful force for positive change.

Through empathetic insights, I aim to connect with young audiences on a profound level, shedding light on the detrimental impacts of bullying while imparting practical strategies for resilience and support. My mission is too serve as a beacon of hope and inspiration for those facing similar challenges. By fostering a culture of compassion and understanding, I want to empower the next generation to stand up against bullying and contribute to an empathetic and kind educational environment nationwide.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
In the world of impactful nonprofits, One Goal Productions stands out as a beacon of hope and kindness, dedicated to spreading a powerful message to schools across America. The organization has set its sights on reaching more schools than ever before, fostering a culture of hope and encouraging kindness among students. This has been our focus.

I recently took the stage for my first TEDx talk, addressing a topic close to our organization’s heart: self-image and authenticity. The talk focused on empowering individuals to embrace their true selves, echoing the same message that One Goal Productions passionately conveys during our school assemblies nationwide. This milestone not only marks a personal achievement but also reflects the nonprofit’s dedication to amplifying our impact by engaging with audiences on a broader scale.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
My journey as a professional comedy magician, helped me discover the profound impact that laughter holds. The ability to infuse humor into my performances has become a potent tool, particularly during school assemblies with students. Laughter has an incredible way of breaking down barriers, and as I weave speaking and comedy together, it becomes a unique gateway to connect with students on a deeper level.

Another vital aspect of reaching others from the stage is rooted in being genuine of your own experiences. Having faced bullying myself, I understand the challenges that students may encounter, and this shared vulnerability forms a bridge of empathy during my assemblies. Opening up about my own struggles allows me to connect with students in a real and relatable way.

In the realm of impacting others, I believe the key component has been the unwavering commitment to being true to oneself. I encourage others who aspire to make a difference to authentically be themselves. Anyone can share stories, but people relate when that story is your own.

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
I am looking for parents, school administrators, teachers, churches or caring people in communities who want to reach the youth in your city. If you have a heart for making your city a kinder place, then let’s talk. There are several ways we can impact the city, through; school assemblies or through an all ages comedy magic show at a local theater or community center. If you have an event that is already happening, we can join together on that too. Please contact our team at OneGoalProductions.org if you are interested in collaborating.
