Meet Christy Conoly

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Christy Conoly a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Christy, first a big thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts and insights with us today. I’m sure many of our readers will benefit from your wisdom, and one of the areas where we think your insight might be most helpful is related to imposter syndrome. Imposter syndrome is holding so many people back from reaching their true and highest potential and so we’d love to hear about your journey and how you overcame imposter syndrome.
I overcame imposter syndrome during my tenure at an office job, where I had an enlightening revelation. Until that revelation, my perspective regarding launching a business was that it required substantial financial resources and was exclusively reserved for exceptionally brilliant individuals. However, my perspective shifted, as I observed constant turnover in the office, 48 employees within a mere 18 months to be exact, as well as witnessing a lack of common sense and inefficiency among the C-suite team.

It became increasingly evident that not everyone in the business world possessed an innate genius or an extensive wealth of knowledge. In fact, many entrepreneurs seemed to be navigating the waters without a clear roadmap, essentially “winging it” as they went along. This realization gradually eroded my imposter syndrome, as I recognized that even C-suite executives of companies were still learning and adapting to the ever-evolving landscape of entrepreneurship.

It is important to note that this is not the case with all business owners, but it was in my last office job which was enough for me to overcome imposter syndrome, so for that I am grateful.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I am Christy Conoly and wear several hats during my professional journey. I am a proud owner of a small business with a mission close to my heart. In early 2024, “The S.T.O.M.P.S. Method Workbook: Overcome Anxiety,” was published. This project had been in progress for two years. This workbook is a valuable resource for helping individuals overcome anxiety and panic attacks. It is a project that holds great personal significance for me, as I battled anxiety and panic attacks for 17 years and ultimately triumphed and now lead a life free of anxiety and panic attacks.

What makes this endeavor truly exciting and special is the opportunity to have a positive impact on the lives of others who may face similar challenges. The workbook is a culmination of my own experiences and techniques, which proved effective for me. I am passionate about sharing these insights and strategies with others, empowering them to regain control over their lives, and find peace amidst the chaos of anxiety.

Stomps and Company, a group of deer that I had the privilege of meeting in 2020. Stomps, the lead female whitetail deer was the inspiration behind my business journey, and her remarkable presence in my life sparked the idea for my brand, stores, and company. Stomps was not just a deer; she was a symbol of resilience and the power of transformation.

In addition to my work on the workbook, I am also pursuing a wildlife rehabilitation license driven by a deep love for animals and the natural world. This new venture represents an exciting expansion of my interests and values, as I aim to make a difference in the lives of injured or orphaned wildlife.

Finally, I run the Stomps and Company River Cabin, a corporate housing retreat nestled along the picturesque Middle Oconee River in Athens, Georgia. This serene escape provides a unique opportunity for individuals and teams to unwind, rejuvenate, and reconnect with nature, while enjoying the comfort of our cozy cabin.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Reflecting on my journey, there have been three pivotal qualities, skills, and areas of knowledge that have greatly influenced my path.

Resilience: The first quality that proved instrumental during my journey was resilience. Life, especially in a world of entrepreneurship and personal challenges, can be filled with ups and downs. It is essential to develop the capacity to bounce back from setbacks and to keep moving forward. In my case, overcoming anxiety and panic attacks required a resilient mind-set. I advise those starting their journey to embrace failure as a stepping stone to success. Each setback provides an opportunity to learn, grow, and become more resilient. Seeking support from mentors, friends, or therapists can help build this crucial trait.

Authenticity: Authenticity is another key quality that has played a vital role in my journey. Being true to oneself and one’s values is crucial for finding the purpose and staying aligned with one’s mission. My advice for those at the outset of their journey was to embrace the authentic self. Be genuine in your actions and decisions, and do not compromise who you are and what you love for the sake of conformity. Authenticity not only attracts like-minded individuals but also removes people who do not have the best interest in the heart from life. Stay true to who you are, and your journey will be more meaningful and fulfilling.

Empathy and Connection: Lastly, empathy and the capacity to build meaningful connections with others have been the cornerstone of my journey. The ability to understand and relate to the struggles and aspirations of individuals facing anxiety, as well as to the wildlife I aim to rehabilitate, has been transformative. Building a community of like-minded individuals who share their passion and values can provide invaluable support and opportunities for collaboration. For those embarking on their journey, my advice is to cultivate empathy, actively listen to others, and seek opportunities for collaboration. Connect with people who share your vision, and together you can achieve remarkable things.

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
