Hi Kayelani, so excited to talk about all sorts of important topics with you today. The first one we want to jump into is about being the only one in the room – for some that’s being the only person of color or the only non-native English speaker or the only non-MBA, etc Can you talk to us about how you have managed to be successful even when you were the only one in the room that looked like you?
As a Latina there have been many times where I have been the only one in the room. One of the ways that I have been effective/successful is by maintaining my authenticity. I find that showing up as I truly am, keeping my integrity and loving myself has shown others who I truly am.

I wear many hats in life, and each role is a beautiful chapter in my story. First and foremost, I am a proud mom, blessed with the joy and chaos that comes with motherhood. My little one is my daily inspiration, pushing me to create a world where she can see her mom chasing dreams fearlessly.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Reflecting on my journey, there are three key qualities that have been instrumental in shaping my path, and I’d love to share some advice for those embarking on their own journeys.
Resilience:
Life is a rollercoaster, and entrepreneurship is no exception. Resilience has been my steadfast companion through the ups and downs. My advice is to cultivate a resilient mindset early on. Embrace challenges as opportunities for growth, learn from setbacks, and remember that each obstacle is a stepping stone toward success. Surround yourself with a supportive network, seek guidance when needed, and let resilience be the anchor that keeps you grounded amid storms.
Adaptability:
The landscape of business is ever-changing, and the ability to adapt is crucial. Flexibility in mindset and approach has allowed me to navigate unexpected twists and turns. To those starting their journey, I recommend fostering a mindset of adaptability. Stay curious, be open to new ideas, and don’t be afraid to pivot when necessary.
