Meet Lauryn Pena

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Lauryn Pena a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Lauryn, appreciate you making time for us and sharing your wisdom with the community. So many of us go through similar pain points throughout our journeys and so hearing about how others overcame obstacles can be helpful. One of those struggles is keeping creativity alive despite all the stresses, challenges and problems we might be dealing with. How do you keep your creativity alive?
Writer’s block happens to the best of us. When I get into a block I will watch a movie, read a book, or read an article that is written by someone I respect, and that sort of cultivates, grows, and inspires me to push through whatever project I’m working on. I once read that Beethoven would take walks everyday, and he would carry with him empty music sheets in case he got inspiration. That inspired me to do the same whenever I need to clear my head or get over a writing slump.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I am a writer and author. My current work is Love and Mardi Gras, it is available where all books are sold. I am in the process of writing the sequel which I hope can hit bookshelves by early 2025.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Perseverence and consistiency is key to writing for me. Most people shy away from writing their story because they don’t know all the information, or they don’t know certain aspects of the story., so they give up before even starting For me I just write as much as I can to get the idea out of my head and then I can build upon what’s written. Just get it out and work off it.

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
I would love to collaborate with other writers and authors to find ways to hold each other accountable and support each other in our projects.
