Meet Mirror Williams

We recently connected with Mirror Williams and have shared our conversation below.

Mirror, looking forward to learning from your journey. You’ve got an amazing story and before we dive into that, let’s start with an important building block. Where do you get your work ethic from?
I think watching my capricorn mother provided me with an incredible work ethic. She always quoted my grandfather who said “Your work ethic is your livelihood.” And I never quite understood what exactly that meant, but it all made sense the moment I started working. It never failed that I would step into a position and give it my absolute all and randomly someone would say. “Hey I know you do x,y, and z but I’d love to have you work for me.” It was then that I realized how you perform at work influences the opportunities that will be presented to you. I firmly believe that when a new opportunity is presented it is always in your best interest to entertain the thought of something new.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I’m mirror and I am an actor and singer. Acting is this incredibly beautiful journey… you never know what to expect and that’s the most beautiful and inspiring part! I won’t say that it isn’t trying at times, but I truly feel like it’s so worth it. I think my singing and songwriting led me directly to acting. I had such a deep appreciation for how others told their story that it made me long to be apart of it. So when I finally realized acting gives you that chance I fell in love with it and jumped head first into the industry. Since beginning my acting journey in November of 2021 I’ve had the pleasure of working on some incredible projects! It’s a bit of a learning curve because you do these really cool projects and then…. Silence. You can’t talk about it until it’s out, and even then you might not be able to because you might not make the Final Cut. I had someone tell me very early on not to announce anything until you’ve seen yourself in it. In hindsight that was incredible advice! This year I plan on releasing an EP it’ll be my first so I want it to be as well executed as possible! I want it to really encompass the different sides of me and my artistry. I took a 2 year break from music so I finally think it’s time! Be on the lookout!

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
I think the most important qualities you can possess in this industry would have to be professionalism, authenticity, and self-discipline. In regards to professionalism you want to be taken seriously so you have to arrive on time (15 mins early), deliver above expectations, and be able to work the room. As far as authenticity goes people can spot an inauthentic person a mile away. No matter how well someone thinks they are fooling people they aren’t… all it takes is one person to see through the facade and it’s a wrap. My biggest advice would be to just be yourself! People admire someone who is able to enter a room simply as they are no extra bells and whistles necessary. I think that’s important for people to remember. The last but I believe to be the most important quality is self discipline. It’s incredibly hard to not get swept up in all that shines. I promise there will be plenty of parties, and dressing up, and fun after you achieve the goals you’ve set for yourself. In Los Angeles there is always something going on, but that doesn’t mean you have to be there. A friend of mine once told me “Give people a chance to miss you… it gives them a reason to actually be happy the next time they see you.” I’ve seen a lot of people not reach their potential due to distractions. DO. NOT. BECOME. THAT. PERSON!

What do you do when you feel overwhelmed? Any advice or strategies?
It’s very common to feel overwhelmed in a career where literally everything is out of your control. I think what helps me most is self-care. I am a huge proponent for taking a moment to focus on yourself and what really matters to you. For me I personally love doing skincare! I’ll sit in the mirror and do everything from cleansing, to toning, to masks it’s so therapeutic to me. Then I’m ready to conquer the world!
