Meet Daunta Bryan

We recently connected with Daunta Bryan and have shared our conversation below.

Daunta, so good to have you with us today. We’ve got so much planned, so let’s jump right into it. We live in such a diverse world, and in many ways the world is getting better and more understanding but it’s far from perfect. There are so many times where folks find themselves in rooms or situations where they are the only ones that look like them – that might mean being the only woman of color in the room or the only person who grew up in a certain environment etc. Can you talk to us about how you’ve managed to thrive even in situations where you were the only one in the room?
So being the only one in the room that looks like me means a lot to me and to others that look like me. It will mean a lot more when I’m one of the few that actually make it in the gaming industry as well. It can get discouraging at times when there’s all the negativity as to why I haven’t already saw a great deal of success in the gaming industry. It is a saturated market but show me a market that isn’t already saturated? I say that to say this, there’s enough room for everyone. Learning to be effective can be tough, I learned how to be effective by taking things one day at a time and to move with purpose. If you can take one step in the right direction every single day, you’ll be where you want to in no time at all. We get so caught up in waiting on the right time that we wait too late and miss the perfect opportunity! Just START. Start so you’ll have somewhere to come from, so you can see growth, improvement. Start.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I initially started my brand as a gaming content creator. I’ve always wanted to be a warzone player every since I fell in love with Warzone 1 and the direction behind it. I always knew my purpose in life was to lead/inspire others and to be the voice of many. I thought, well if I can put those two things together then there’s no way I can lose! After streaming and gaming for some years and building a community, some organizations found me and now I am a Warzone tutor for Nerve Gaming. Nerve Gaming is a community-based organization for anyone effected by spinal cord injuries that would require adaptive equipment. I am partnered with Ghost Gaming in Atlanta as well. Now, while this hasn’t been how I predicted things would go when I started my journey years ago, I wouldn’t trade where I’m at right now for anything. There’s always more than one way to win if you just keep moving forward. I’d done my research on Ghost Gaming years before even speaking with the owner so it was really cool to see it come full circle for me. I do still see myself with some time to even improve my skills on the side as well and to still get my time in to play and compete so I would love to enter some tournaments for myself which would give me more skill and experience to tutor my players better in the end.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Looking back, the three qualities or skills that were most impactful throughout my journey would be the courage, the purpose, and the discipline it takes. You have to have courage to live stream and be a model for people around you to say what you feel and to believe a way. The purpose is the driving force to find the will power to do what you feel! To move in the right direction. The discipline comes with outside distractions, I’ve sacrificed so many nights out, so many hours of sleep, so much of my money and time to get to where I’m at now. It’s the beauty of it all. If I turn back now, it would all be for nothing and that’s what drives me!

How can folks who want to work with you connect?
I am looking for other creators to collaborate with. I love collaborating with other warzone players/streamers to see how they go about content and finding tournaments to play in. I’m not new to things so this is an industry where it could be about who you know sometimes, which there’s no problem with. Me getting to collaborate and network with other like-minded people would give me a chance to showcase what I can do and bring to the table as well. Maybe gain a few teammates, colleagues, whatever the relationship may be. Getting a foot in the door has been the goal for the year and collaborations are definitely a step in the right direction.
