Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Quinn Saine. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Quinn, so many exciting things to discuss, we can’t wait. Thanks for joining us and we appreciate you sharing your wisdom with our readers. So, maybe we can start by discussing optimism and where your optimism comes from?
I was and am still fortunate to look up to my two older sisters as role models in treating others with kindness, humor, and a big smile, which our parents passed down to the three of us. The people you surround yourself with bring you up or bring you down. I have a tight circle of people I love, cherish, and share my time and energy with.
I choose to read good news articles and books focusing on what is right in the world and how to impact the limited number of people I can interact with daily. I aim to be a bright spot in someone’s day with whom I can share a few minutes, whether a mailman, a barista, or a smile, with a stranger walking by. I believe that enthusiasm is contagious, that we all have gifts worth sharing, and that we can’t take life too seriously.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I’ve spent the last five years of my time and energy in photography toward building a body of work centered around the California Coast. Using intentional camera movement is the primary method I use to create flowing, calm, and often ethereal photographs. My goal is to reduce an entire scene to a simple horizon with the warm glow of sunset fading away contrasted against the blues of the Pacific Ocean.
The most exciting thing about my work continually gaining in popularity is that the work is precisely what I want to do. This “work” is more fun than fun, and I hope my enthusiasm and passion show through the sacrifice, dedication, and time I have put into mastering this niche of the vibey oceanscapes I’ve become obsessed with creating.
Another aspect of chasing this dream is that I would love to help others who are finding their path in photography and inspire them never to give up. My Dad would always tell me, “The harder you work, the luckier you’ll get,” so I’ll keep working toward those magical moments because they’re worth finding.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Find others who are on a similar journey and seek advice from those who you admire.
Share before you’re ready.
Ask for help and ask if you can be of help.
One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
I would love to collaborate with more interior designers and art directors for healthcare facilities to create a calm, soothing, and serene environment for patients going through difficult times in their lives.
From the brave people fighting for their lives in cancer treatment centers to a kiddo scared to go to the dentist for the first time for a check-up, I’m big on people feeling at ease and good inside.
If, even for a moment, my art can bring a moment of calm or inner peace to someone, that would be a huge win.
