In my time with a brand new direct sales company – starting at the ground level, optimism wasn’t just an internal mindset; it became my silent partner. For three decades, I navigated corporate America. My focus was a world defined by mergers, startups, and transitions. There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Reflecting on my journey, both in corporate America and as a psychic medium and investigator, I realize there are three key qualities that have been instrumental to my success: problem-solving, flexibility, and curiosity. These traits not only shaped my career but also my approach to life and personal growth.
1. Problem Solver:
In the realm of business and psychic work, problem-solving was crucial. It’s about seeing beyond the surface, understanding the root of issues, and envisioning creative solutions. This skill helped me navigate complex corporate transitions and guide clients through personal challenges.
To enhance problem-solving abilities, these are things you could try that I do on a regular basis – puzzles, strategic games like Quordle and Soduko, and try to engage in brainstorming sessions with friends. Learn to view problems from multiple angles and explore various solutions without the fear of making mistakes.
2. Flexibility:
Flexibility was pivotal in adapting to the rapid changes in corporate environments and in tuning into the dynamic nature of psychic readings. It’s about being open to new ideas, willing to change course, and able to thrive in uncertainty. One thing I have heard every successful entrepreneur say – be ready to pivot and be good at it!
Cultivate flexibility by stepping out of your comfort zone. Try new activities, learn new skills, and be open to different perspectives. Practice mindfulness and stress management techniques to maintain composure and adaptability in unexpected situations. I just heard a speaker say their success was based on them learning to be comfortable in uncomfortable situations.
3. Curiosity:
Curiosity drove me to delve deeper into the unknown realms of psychic abilities and to explore innovative solutions in business. It’s the thirst for knowledge and understanding that fuels growth and discovery. My mentor in the psychic medium space calls it peeling back the onion. Keep asking why!
Feed your curiosity by continuously learning. Read widely, ask questions, and seek new experiences. Attend workshops, join interest groups, and engage in conversations with people from various backgrounds. Remember, every person you meet and every experience you have is an opportunity to learn something new. I like to engage in conversations that have completely different opinions than I do – where I feel safe asking the questions. I don’t go in thinking I will agree with them at the end. I am there just to learn what drives them.
In summary, these three qualities – problem-solving, flexibility, and curiosity – have been the cornerstone of my journey.
