Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Karina Müller. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Karina , so many exciting things to discuss, we can’t wait. Thanks for joining us and we appreciate you sharing your wisdom with our readers. So, maybe we can start by discussing optimism and where your optimism comes from?
My mom always told my sister and me that – whatever happens – there is a solution… Start your aims new and you will see that you will win!
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
When I was 56 I had to survive a breast cancer. No amputation needed but the full programm with quimio therapy, radiation etc. After the first 6 months I had the opportunity to go to a rehabilitation
stay and there I choose painting for the free time.
I was surprised that my first paintings after being a school girl were really nice!
This was 2009 and we had just been moving to a finca with hundreds of olive trees, so no time for art.
2013 we decided to move to a townhouse in Ayamonte, a 21.00o citizends village. There I started to paint seriously.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
In Ayamonte live more than 100 artists, a fact I didn’t know when we bought our house. So the atmosphere of being surrounded by many artists, exhibitions etc. encouraged me to go on, try new technics.. I joined painting lessons in the village, but most helpful were YouTube and tutorials on Instagram and Pinterest, I learned a lot by the internet. I felt free to try and kind of paint and motives, I had no fear to fail, because survive cancer mad me strong.
Is there a particular challenge you are currently facing?
As I started my art career having more than 60 birthdays behind me sometimes I feel that I don’t have the time I would need to enhance my skills… So I paint nearly every day and try my best!
