Meet Jay Wil

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Jay Wil. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Jay below.

Jay, thank you so much for joining us. You are such a positive person and it’s something we really admire and so we wanted to start by asking you where you think your optimism comes from?
Honestly my optimism comes from my imagination and belief that I can achieve anything I set my mind to. The possibilities are truly endless once you open your mind to who you truly can become. I guess story I can tie into it is me seeing my first billboard in my city randomly like with things like that happening there’s no way I couldn’t be optimistic

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
What’s up gang Jay Wil here!! I’m a creative I do a little bit of everything. Modeling, acting, designing, styling, photography, influencing, etc…😂. Currently I’m working on preparing for NYFW in about a month and also working on finding an agency as far as acting/commercial print work. Also I’m working on putting out my first custom clothing line and showcasing hopefully sometime this year some shows but as a designer this time not a model. But definitely stay tuned I have a lot planned this year and a lot in the works behind the scenes

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
One I would say being personable and easy to work with it makes your experience that much easier especially if people like your personality can book you jobs and you don’t even know it.

Two bring good/positive energy everywhere you go. A positive attitude can go along way when things seem like they’re not going your way but stay vigilant and keep at it. It’s the consistency

Three be direct in what you want out of your journey but also allow yourself to learn new talents along the way. Learn a little something from everyone and put your best foot forward no matter the opportunity you never know who’s watching or even who knows who

Before we go, any advice you can share with people who are feeling overwhelmed?
Ahh this one is a constant daily thing for me, it definitely gets a little overwhelming having to plan your shoots/shows along with working another job, along with being a dad it becomes a bit much at times. They way I tackle most of these problems is my calendar as simple as it seems using reminders/calendar/notes. And then also taking time to meditate/yoga/ listening to music/painting are creative outlets I use to essentially chill.
