Meet Tyler Jackson

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Tyler Jackson. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have Tyler with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?
My work ethic didn’t kick in fully until I was at my lowest point and almost lost everything including my family and myself. There was a point in my life I was content with the bare minimum and never pushing myself to see where I could go or achieve. There was a time where my then marriage was falling apart, I tore my Achilles and was out of work and felt useless in all ways. In that time I sunk to my darkest times and thought horrible things but what stopped me was thinking of my beautiful daughters and kicking myself in the butt to not give up or let them down. I found a new career which at the time was completely new to me. I passed a state exam, started being a self employed person and built my career from the bottom to where now all my dreams have come true. My daughters are taken care of, I have helped hundreds in the process and surrounded myself with people who have never lost hope in me and support me in my journey. But I have to give all the thanks to God for allowing me to fall but helping me get back up. From that point on I promised myself to never ever go back to where I was and each day make it count and work my hardest to create a better future for those in my life.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I’m an Independent Health Insurance Broker and each day I get the amazing opportunity to not only help those with their health insurance needs, but educate and become part of their sometimes healing processes. I get satisfaction of being the one they can count on to help save them money and make the chaotic world of health insurance smoother and easier for them to navigate. When I get a call and someone has had a terrible experience in the past or had a bad agent or just overall frustrations I love trying to put the pieces of the puzzle together to create a resolution for my clients. Over the 3.5 years I’ve been in the Health Insurance Industry I’ve learned so much. My strength is relating to people and just being personable and letting them know I actually care about them and all their needs. I love to help and my heart is huge for just being someone to count on for them. I’m licensed in over 35 states and have access to hundreds of the top carriers in the country including dental, vision, supplemental, life and travel insurance. I/m always available to help anyone and my pleasure is knowing you are taken care of the right way.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Most important trait I truly believed is just being yourself. As an agent I tried the straight face, no nonsense approach and didn’t like who I was to clients and felt uncomfortable. But once I realized I need to be me then I started being more lose, open, cracking jokes, relating to the clients and sharing personal things with them in relation to the clients situation to help ease things. I worked instantly and to this day I refuse to be anything but me to everyone I speak with. You also need a will and a want to learn and grow. Trust me, it can be extremely nerve wrecking to jump into something new or have to say yes to opportunity after you said no to it a million times. The more you learn and grow, the more you can handle and the more you can handle the more opportunities you receive and are able to give the clients. Sometimes when you’re afraid, it’s the time when you discover the greatest moments in your life. Surround yourself with like minded people. It sounds cliche but believe me if I didn’t have the team, support and love around me I wouldn’t be where I am now. Having them to push you, hype you up, share ideas, vent to and just be there is so valuable and needs to be a priority.

How can folks who want to work with you connect?
I’m a person who is always accessible and available to help. No matter who you are, the situation you’re facing or your needs I’m here to help you. Whether you have insurance now, want to switch plans, need additional coverage or just have a general question about your coverage I’d love to speak with you. If I don’t know the answer I’ll find it for you. If you’re a fellow broker and need a partner with more options for your clients I’d also love to work with you as a referral partner.
