Meet Erica Hubbard

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Erica Hubbard a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Erica , we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?
My resilience comes from my upbringing as a child growing up in Chicago seeing hard-working parents maneuver through life’s obstacles. Both my parents graduated college and worked extremely hard on their jobs and would consistently told me how hard I have to work if I want to make a decent living wage in life. Hearing my parents tell me to work hard throughout the years instilled a mindset in which I was determined to excel at any challenges I encountered no matter the duration I naturally become persistent.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
Growing up in the entertainment industry has always been a passion of mine because I grew up in a family who loves the TV and Film entertainment business. My family has supported me over the many years and my longevity as an actress is a direct reflection of how strong my support group is not only with my family but with my friends who cheer me on as well. I just finish a film that is now released called “He Who Findeth” and the feedback I received from everyone who watched it was extremely wonderful. Hearing viewers state how much they’ have enjoyed the characters I portray in productions enlightens me. I am thrilled to make projects that are entertaining to watch! In my spare time I am a Executive Director of a non-profit; The Erica Hubbard Foundation which helps mentors youth across the country living in impoverished areas.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Three important qualities to practice regularly are to write down your goals or journal, listen very carefully when anyone speaks; learning every detail of their conversation al you can repeat it back and work over time because it always builds endurance. The advice I give anyone pursuing their goals are find mentors to give you advice for what you are pursuing in life that are already successful professionals.

Awesome, really appreciate you opening up with us today and before we close maybe you can share a book recommendation with us. Has there been a book that’s been impactful in your growth and development?
I love reading so many books and it is hard to narrow it down to one or two because so many books have played an important role in my development. Some of my favorite books are The Power Of Awareness, Who Moved My Cheese, The Alchemist, Get Out Of Your Own Way and The Four Agreements. Also, I wrote a book that I am getting ready to release called Answering The Call which I hope will impact many lives for betterment. A nugget of wisdom is to always be of good service to others and volunteer in your community! My non-profit The Erica Hubbard Foundation brings me joy to help individuals in at-risk communities.
