We recently connected with Holly Charles-Pearson and have shared our conversation below.
Holly, we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.
The goal is ALWAYS to create something that makes people think – about others, about themselves, about what they were taught, about what needs to be unlearned, about how to make the world better. My purpose is to help others find their own.
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
Honestly, I’m just a daydreamer – a daydreamer blessed with the opportunity to share those dreams with other folks. I’ve written poems, books, speeches, dedications, episodic series, teleplays, stage plays and, most recently, my first narrative short film, ‘If They Took Us Back’, which premiers Juneteenth 2024. But, they’re all just daydreams come to life.
As one of the founding members of Fourth Industrial Pictures, an unconventional film and entertainment company that develops, produces and distributes film and entertainment events, I am excited to work with an incredible team who will continue to dream with me.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
You must be prepared. You must be organized. You must be bold.
I’m a firm believer that success comes from being as prepared as possible and then getting out of the way for God to do His thing.
Okay, so before we go, is there anyone you’d like to shoutout for the role they’ve played in helping you develop the essential skills or overcome challenges along the way?
It’s important to remember that you don’t know everything. You have to trust other people, and they have to trust you. Any success that I have garnered in the past or any acclaim that my team and I garner in the future is because we are a cohesive team. It’s nearly impossible to mention one person by name without leaving out someone else who is just as important. So, I will say that everyone from that last minute extra who showed up on set, to that eager production assistant to the producers who sacrificed hours hunting for funding – each of you are critical to this project’s success. You know who you are, and I am so grateful and humbled to create with you.
