We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Columbus Berry. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Columbus below.
Columbus, we’re so excited for our community to get to know you and learn from your journey and the wisdom you’ve acquired over time. Let’s kick things off with a discussion on self-confidence and self-esteem. How did you develop yours?
Constantly reminding myself of who I am at the core. Everyday I tell myself how beautiful i am, and when i say beautiful I mean as a whole. it’s the energy, I’ve mastered the thought of “i’m not for everyone and or i’m not everyones type” and that is okay. It’s my life, have i walked into the room and have people just stair me? yes absolutely, but what separates me from others is that I am 100% comfortable in my own skin. It took me some time and I am still working on it to this day with my singing career.
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
Howdy Howdy, My Name is Columbus Berry and I am an Licensed health insurance advisor during the day and R&B singer and songwriter during the night. There are two things that I am truly passionate about, one being helping people and second being music. With Music I am able to help people express what they may struggle with saying and relate to their feelings, emotions, and experiences. There is nothing better in this world than having someone coming up to me to express how my music has touched them and how much they relate. As far as my career choice to get into health insurance it was because i see that there are so many people who don’t know the “basics” of health insurance. I want to help them get a better understanding and also find them a better position if I am able to.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Consistency, resilience, and believe in yourself. I say consistency because when you consistently do something over a period you not only master the task at hand but you also start to figure out what works and what doesn’t. Resilience, never give up and continue to fight, it’s only considered “failure” when you give up. Giving up just tells me that you never truly wanted it bad enough. Believing in yourself can make of break you in any position that you might encounter, when you start to think you can’t you actions start to subconsciously start to reflect how you feel.
My number one thing that I like to say is that I do not give “advice” I can only tell you what I would do in a situation like that. The reason I say this is because our minds are wired differently, I am not you, I am not the “end all be all” what I say is not law. In My opinion when you say “advice” that indicates that you are 100% right, and thats just not realistic to me. in most cases, no two people experience the same thing down to every last detail, there will always be a different factor that makes the situations differ.
Being that I am still working on ALL three qualities daily, i will say this, don’t give up on yourself, consistently work hard, and believe in yourself!
Alright, so before we go we want to ask you to take a moment to reflect and share what you think you would do if you somehow knew you only had a decade of life left?
being 100% consistent across the board, and I am VERY hard on myself even when I am Killing it.
