Hi Derrick, we’re so appreciative of you taking the time to share your nuggets of wisdom with our community. One of the topics we think is most important for folks looking to level up their lives is building up their self-confidence and self-esteem. Can you share how you developed your confidence?
I believe that my confidence comes from being an athlete most of my life. I’ve participated in sports, which allowed me to be competitive and in turn built self esteem as well.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
Well I’m an actor as well as an entrepreneur. I’ve acted and starred in six feature films since 2018, all with 360 Film Group. I recently finished an acting class, with the wonderful Charnele Brown (A Different World). I’m currently reading a script for my seventh film and excited about being back in front of the camera. We’ve also expanded our business and we’re growing at a steady pace.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Persistence, consistency and focus are the three that were and still are the most impactful. It doesn’t stop once you get closer to your goal, it’s only the beginning. You have to be persistent by not letting NO get you discouraged. You must be consistent in order to get better at what you’re doing and you need to stay focused to finish the course.
One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
