Meet Kaylei Ibarra Blackmoon

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Kaylei Ibarra Blackmoon a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Kaylei, so great to be with you and I think a lot of folks are going to benefit from hearing your story and lessons and wisdom. Imposter Syndrome is something that we know how words to describe, but it’s something that has held people back forever and so we’re really interested to hear about your story and how you overcame imposter syndrome.
This question is a hard one to answer. I don’t think imposter syndrome can ever be beaten. If it can, I’d love to meet the person that was able to mentally get them there. One thing I realized, is that everyone is experiencing some form of imposter syndrome in their own way. It truly wasn’t until I started taking chances on myself, speaking to others who are doing the same in their entrepreneur journeys that I realized we are all living this. However I will say that experiencing imposter syndrome despite taking these chances on yourself it can be extremely humbling. I stand in the moments where I feel proud and I congratulate myself and there are times where I question everything. No matter where things go from here, I know that there will always be a fine line of balancing between feeling like an imposter, and acknowledgment of I did the work, and that is why I am here.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
Hi Team, If you’ve been following along my story, by now you know I opened a cycling, strength and wellness studio with my best friend Brian, known as Rhythm & Release located in the Citadel building of Miami Florida. If you didn’t know, now you do and welcome!
We are now operating in our seventh month since opening our doors last June, and everyday is a new challenge or another grind. Happy to be here!
All of our classes are rhythmic based and we work in the business of energy! That being said, we removed screens from our bikes, take out the numerical value in our workouts, and make everything based on a feeling. Afterall the calories, the scoreboard, the speed at which you are moving really does not equate to the work you are putting in. Boutique community classes, our environment is welcoming to any level of fitness whether you are just getting started, looking to level up, or anything in between.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Skills can be learned in anything and knowledge can also be learned. The quality I had that was most impactful to my journey was resilience. Everything up until this point nothing has gone the way it was imagined or planned. There have been a thousand times I have been told “no” “not today” “try again.” Its not what you want to hear but you will here it more often than not. There have been many times where I have wanted to give up on myself, or this dream, and the work is relentless. You have to be willing to get your feelings hurt and keep going because you believe in it, and hope that be enough.

The advice I would give to anyone for people in their journey early is to just start. If you’ve already started building a business, a brand, or a product then very early on resilience will be key. It means you already have it. Harvest it, and let it be the thing that keeps you going. There will still be days of panic, regret, fear. At the beginning middle and end if its something you believe in go with that.

How can folks who want to work with you connect?
One major aspect of rhythm & release is the wellness. We took an approach to fitness by putting the focus beyond being physically fit. We do this daily by providing affirmations within classes, within our social media, and throughout our subscription based users. We host monthly mental wellness events, located in our studio and partner with other local entrepreneurs to host a variety of wellness events.
We seek to promote and provide these services to our members and community looking for something more in their fitness journeys. If you are located in Miami, we would love to chat and see if we can make a collaboration or partnership happen!
In the past we have hosted, dance, meditation, talk it out groups, sip and paints, vision board planning, breathwork and journaling. I am excited to continue to extend this opportunity to our members to discover their outlets of mental wellness.
