Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Joshua Thornton. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Joshua, thank you so much for joining us and offering your lessons and wisdom for our readers. One of the things we most admire about you is your generosity and so we’d love if you could talk to us about where you think your generosity comes from.
I’d have to say my generosity comes from the Golden Rule. Treat others the way you want to be treated. Simple as that. Life can be hard enough for people that I try to be as nice as possible to everyone. You never know what someone is going through.
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I love to create. Whether it’s a logo, t-shirt graphic, flyer etc. It’s always exciting to take a customer’s ideas and specifications and create something we can both be proud of. I love seeing something I created utilized on uniform, banner or signage. It’s definitely something I take pride in. Currently I’m working on original artwork that will eventually make its way onto shirts in my online shop, as well as taking commissions.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
I’d have to say confidence, consistency, and faith. You have to have some confidence in your work. A lack of confidence will hinder your performance and will show in your work in more than one way. Quality and progress will definitely falter. Consistency is key when it comes to social media. If you’re not posting on a regular basis your exposure will drop significantly. Consistency is something I still catch myself struggling with. Thats where faith comes in. You need to have faith in yourself. Being successful is not easy but you have to constantly remind yourself to not give up, keep working toward your goals and hope for the best.
What’s been one of your main areas of growth this year?
That would definitely be faith. These past few years I’ve really been identifying and realizing what a blessing is. It’s easy to take things for granted and that’s the last thing I want to do. I had to let my guard down and open my eyes to what I have. I’ve been blessed with an amazing wife and daughter that have been there for me in my life and work. I’ve also been blessed with a quality of friendships that I honestly wasn’t used to. Faith is defined as a “complete trust or confidence in someone or something” and that’s exactly what I’m focusing on. Trust and confidence in all aspects of my life and everyone in it.
