Meet Justa Lujwangana

We recently connected with Justa Lujwangana and have shared our conversation below.

Justa , looking forward to learning from your journey. You’ve got an amazing story and before we dive into that, let’s start with an important building block. Where do you get your work ethic from?
I get my work ethic from my mother. She’s is a single mom of 5 but found her own way to bring us to USA and give us a great education. But she still always reminded us of where we came from and how important of people we are to our society as children of the royal family (from Bukoba, a town Northwest of Tanzania)

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I’m a Tanzanian-Brooklynite, storyteller and curious traveler. Born and raised in Tanzania and later at the age of 12, Justa moved to the US with her brother to reunite with her family. After a few years without visiting her home country due to her studies, on her return, she re-discovered how beautiful her homeland was as a local, tourists and beyond. She founded Curious on Tanzania in 2015 out of her own curiosities for the country but also to help travelers unlock richer travel experience within and outside the country.

We run Curious on Tanzania, an experiential travel company, where curiosity meets authenticity.
With a concierge service, we assist you to create a personalized trip based on shared interests, passions and budget. Invite family and friends to explore our homeland with a different lens. An immersive journey with us will leave you speechless and then turn you into a storyteller.

OUR MISSION
Showcase the unforgettable beauty of Tanzania and its people.
Create an opportunity to explore & immerse in new cultures
Contribute to the Tanzanian’s social tourism economy.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Having the courage to follow my passion and curious was what drove me to wanting to discover more of who I was, where I came from and how I can contribute with the knowledge I obtain.

Besides that comes the people skills, you must find a way to ask and it’s true that it shall be given. Asking for help is a skill that a lot of us forget that we have and we can use it at anytime cautiously.

Awesome, really appreciate you opening up with us today and before we close maybe you can share a book recommendation with us. Has there been a book that’s been impactful in your growth and development?
The book is called Profit First – It help me understand how to do business.
