As a calligrapher, many assume that my job entails simply writing aesthetically pleasing content all day long. However, the reality is that I spend less than half of my time actually lettering and creating, especially when I’m caught up in the administrative aspects of my small business. Oftentimes my creative juices run dry and I crave the chance to do something artistic. Read more>>

As a kid, I have always loved reading books and watching films. The things I grew up with have been a great influence on my work, be it in my day job or side projects I worked on late at night or on the weekends. Whenever I get stuck on ideas, I like to look back to comic books I used to read or shows I used to watch. Usually, what happens next is, I would get inspired to create something and it helps to get the ball rolling. Once I start the project and start filling in that blank piece of paper (or in my case, that blank Maya scene haha), ideas would keep flowing and I ended up trying out a bunch of ideas! Read more>>

Inspiration is what keeps my creativity alive. Believe it or not, seeing new things drives me and channels my creative side even more. Something as simple as watching the seasons change with the trees going from green to a rust orange color during the fall, Visiting museums; both inside and out, tapping into another person’s world looking through their lens, and trying things I’ve never experienced before are all ways I am able to keep my creativity alive. I keep myself intrigued, no matter how good or bad my days are. Creativity is in every one, and it is all around. Read more>>

I personally feel that day to day life “duties” can cause anyones creativity to die. Honestly, I keep pushing through. For example, as a musician/songwriter I find an area (wherever I’m located at that moment) and attempt to write down my thoughts. By writing down my thoughts, it causes me to express myself and opens up most road blocks Read more>>

Inspiration exists, but it has to find you when you are working.” This phrase by Pablo Picasso is something I think about often when working. Creativity and inspiration to me come hand in hand, one seems to fuel the other. But what happens when you are at a loss for either one? I guess creativity ruts are common in my profession, the important thing is what we can do to overcome the challenge. Read more>>

I try to keep my creativity alive by immersing myself in things that provoke my sense of wonder. These include attending concerts, listening to music, watching a movie or show that inspires me, and giving myself space to create. Every time I attend a show or concert by someone I admire, it gives me a boost of creativity. Also, instead of just watching reality shows (which I do most of the time), every once in a while I will watch something like Sesame Street, PeeWee’s Playhouse, or a documentary about a particular artist. Basically by always being creative in any way possible. Wether it’s music or my artwork I try to see things from different angles that may curve your thinking pattern when approaching similar works of content. Usually with music , I’ll play my normal playlist whenever doin activities and with the extra 15-20 seconds after the song is dying down I’ll add my own little version of that song with my flow and cadence and it kinda sharpens my swords when I’m introduced to those kind of beats again. With my cover art I try to keep everything as abstract as possible. My art inspiration comes from basquiat and other like money who tells a story with their Art instead of depicting an idea. Basically it’s about being yourself and keeping your influences apart of it as well. Read more>>

For me, being creative is a necessary and essential aspect of my life. The strange thing is that I really didn’t realize this until later on in my life. Without sounding dramatic it almost feels as important as getting good sleep or eating well ect…It seems to be another basic component that I need to be fully myself an healthy. That doesn’t mean I’m creating all day everyday, but I do notice when a certain amount have time has gone by without being creative in some form or fashion.  Read more>>

I think the secret to staying creative is to learn something new every day. Reading can be a way of not necessarily needing to read a lot every day, but reading a short poem a day is a habit that can be maintained over time. Reading ensures that you are always in a state of thinking, and every day when I read I can generate a lot of new ideas, which I think is beneficial to my creativity. A rich imagination I think is the key to creativity, so get more exposure to new things, see more of the world around you, and stay curious. Read more>>

Keeping creativity alive, for me, is a lot like being a traveler on a never-ending journey. I’m always looking for new perspectives, a bit like how I used to pretend to be a gentle butterfly when I was a child, and then the next day pretending I was some mythical, powerful creature, I could be anything. It’s all about seeing things from a different point of view, and it’s this habit of shifting perspectives that keeps my creative juices flowing. Read more>>

I try to think of the positives in life, rather than dwell on negative things. I think because of that, inspiration comes from many sources. If something bad is happening or going on, I try to figure out a way to make it better, just like anyone would do. From that is where creativity can bloom. Also, besides music I’m also an aerial cinematographer, so the beauty I see while in the air gives tons of inspiration to be creative. Read more>>
