Meet Andrea Bridges-Smith

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Andrea Bridges-Smith. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Andrea, so great to be with you and I think a lot of folks are going to benefit from hearing your story and lessons and wisdom. Imposter Syndrome is something that we know how words to describe, but it’s something that has held people back forever and so we’re really interested to hear about your story and how you overcame imposter syndrome.
I have overcome (and to be honest, am always in the process of overcoming) imposter syndrome by realizing that everyone else has it too! The most impressive people I know, people who have inspired me have talked about their imposter syndrome, and you think, “You? But you’re so awesome!” We’re taught to be humble, but we’re also taught that we should be in a constant state of self-improvement, which I think leads to this imposter syndrome, this feeling that we’re never good enough. One day, after reading yet another article about why I should be doing more of X, I thought, “When am I ever gonna be good enough?” And THEN I thought, “What if I already am good enough?” And that was a life-changing moment for me. I am already who I want to be, and adding in some flaxseeds just wasn’t something I needed to worry about. The brain space that is freed up by that revelation is AMAZING!

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I run a production company/content agency, and I’m the host of the Fenix News Network on YouTube, a comedy news channel. This year, we’re looking to emotionally support our audience through the stressful election season by providing comedy, coping mechanisms, and some relief in these stressful times! I’m really excited to see what we can do to help people chill out.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
I think the number one most important thing is resilience. Just keep going, even on the days where you’re not sure you should. The next most important thing is adaptability. You WILL have to pivot, and if you accept it fast and make the changes you need instead of lamenting the fact that you need to make them, you’ll go a lot farther! And finally, community. Surrounding yourself with people that make you feel like the badass that you are is absolutely critical.

To close, maybe we can chat about your parents and what they did that was particularly impactful for you?
My parents told me that I could be anything. No limits, no questions, no conditions, they just have always believed in me, and knowing I have that unconditional love and support is such a bedrock.
