Meet Kent Jolley

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Kent Jolley a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Kent, thank you so much for taking the time to share your lessons learned with us and we’re sure your wisdom will help many. So, one question that comes up often and that we’re hoping you can shed some light on is keeping creativity alive over long stretches – how do you keep your creativity alive?
I think to keep creativity alive, you have to constantly exercise your creative muscles- Although you might not always produce great outcomes each time, by working at your outlet, no.matter the medium, it will improve over time, and your projects will have more depth and meaning,

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I am a bassist and vocalist who has performed for over 30 years and been involved in numerous albums spanning myriad genres of music. I love to read and watch foreign films and television and watch football.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Qualities 1. Dependable
2. Fair
3. Humble

I think that the above qualities served me well in my musical endeavors because folks want to collaborate with those that check egos, come through on promises and obligations, and makes decisions based on the health of the entire group.

Before we go, maybe you can tell us a bit about your parents and what you feel was the most impactful thing they did for you?
My parents always wanted me to pursue my dreams, passions and anything that made me happy and fulfilled. Knowing I had unconditional support was a huge help to me.
