Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Robert Parks- Valletta . We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Robert , we’re so excited for our community to get to know you and learn from your journey and the wisdom you’ve acquired over time. Let’s kick things off with a discussion on self-confidence and self-esteem. How did you develop yours?
You have to first start recognizing the moments in your life that take your confidence away.
For me, Growing up, I faced relentless bullying and physical attacks in middle school, ultimately leading me to be homeschooled. It was a defining moment that forced me to recognize life’s challenges demand a response. You can either let adversity shape you as a victim or use it as a catalyst to become the person you aspire to be. Amidst the anger and pain, I chose a different path – one rooted in resilience and a commitment to leading with empathy and kindness. Building confidence, for me, meant digging deeper, acknowledging my weaknesses, and tirelessly developing the skills that weren’t my strong suits. I live by the principle of saying what I do and doing what I say. It’s a journey of constant learning, growth, and unwavering belief that fuels my confidence. The key lies in never settling, never stopping, and never losing sight of the person you’re striving to become.
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
As the CEO of Making It Media, my professional journey has been nothing short of exhilarating. Heading into the third season of our acclaimed show “Staycation,” which has taken me across the globe to showcase the finest vacation rentals, has been a rewarding experience. Our local show destination series, now thriving in 8 markets, reflects the resonance of our content. Recently, Making It Media expanded its footprint, establishing a new office in Dallas and venturing into international waters with a third office overseas.
Beyond the screen, I’ve just completed my second book, a fiction novel titled “Frankie’s Note,” aimed at kids aged 8-13. It explores the magical scenario of a dog transforming into a human for a day, posing intriguing questions about discovery and learning.
While juggling these passion projects, my primary focus remains on the continued growth of Making It Media. The dynamic journey, from travel and lifestyle shows to literary adventures, fuels my commitment to crafting meaningful content and expanding our company’s presence. The future holds exciting possibilities as we chart new territories and captivate audiences worldwide.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Knowledge and trial and error. Never stop learning and growing.
Before we go, maybe you can tell us a bit about your parents and what you feel was the most impactful thing they did for you?
The most profound impact my parents, Lorri and Bob, had on my life was revealing the true essence of hard work and the intrinsic connection between empathy and integrity. Their personal dedication to these values served as an indelible lesson – a testament that success isn’t a gift but a product of relentless effort and unwavering principles. Their example has not only shaped my work ethic but has become the heartbeat of my existence, guiding every decision and every endeavor with a profound understanding that authenticity and dedication pave the way for genuine success.
