We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Daniel Torres . We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Daniel below.
Hi Daniel , we’re so appreciative of you taking the time to share your nuggets of wisdom with our community. One of the topics we think is most important for folks looking to level up their lives is building up their self-confidence and self-esteem. Can you share how you developed your confidence?
Honestly I feel that my confidence and my self-esteem has been built over time. Once you understand the purpose God has given you on this earth and the talent God has given you that’s when I really understood that I can use all of that to influence and impact those around me. My trust in God is what gives me my confidence.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I am currently serving in my first year as the voice of all Barry University Athletics in Miami Shores, FL. Over the years I’ve had the chance to experience some beautiful moments in my career like becoming the youngest commentator in Major League Soccer history with Inter Miami CF and working my first international tournament at the CONCACAF Gold Cup. One of the most meaningful achievements in my career has been helping my Alma mater Christopher Columbus High School deliver a national championship in broadcast for the schools media outlet CCNN Live. I mentored the sports commentators there for 3 years. My media company PlugTalkSports is a project that will always be considered my baby and is constantly growing. We currently have a weekly podcast with a website filled with sports articles as well as a really cool series called BarberShop Talk interviewing athletes in a local Miami barbershop.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
1. Communication 2. Networking
3. Motivation
These are not in any particular order but my advice would be to always have open communication. You always want to network with people either to collaborate or even just to ask questions so you can learn. Now for me the most important is motivation. There’s days where I’ve wanted to quit but I remind myself that this is my God given talent and I am good at it. You’re your biggest fan and we will fail but you must remind yourself that every day is a new day and a chance to go be great.
Awesome, really appreciate you opening up with us today and before we close maybe you can share a book recommendation with us. Has there been a book that’s been impactful in your growth and development?
The Bible
I think theres nothing to explain on that one. I read my Bible every single day and it’s the blueprint of how I want to live my life.
