Susana, so many exciting things to discuss, we can’t wait. Thanks for joining us and we appreciate you sharing your wisdom with our readers. So, maybe we can start by discussing optimism and where your optimism comes from?
My optimism comes from taking life as an adventure. Good days, bad days, all days are different and bring different things but the good thing is that everything passes by, so is better to take life as an adventure. I know there are very bad days, terrible days, that leave scarfs but time smoothens the scarfs.
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I am a painter. I have been dedicated for the last 30 years. It is a very tough career because is very unstable. Also you must have a high self esteem to dedicate yourself to a creative career. You have to be very patient and believe in yourself as there are many ups and downs. But at the end you have to enjoy doing it because otherwise you get very frustrated. To make a living is not easy, although not impossible. I have had to take up odd jobs to be able to make a living but as I said if it is your passion, it is worthy.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
As I said before: patient, self esteem and work hard, even if you don’t see quick resulta you have to go on working and believing in your work.
Looking back over the past 12 months or so, what do you think has been your biggest area of improvement or growth?
Accepting your weak points and making profit of them. For example, I don’t have so much academic preparation in painting but then I try to emphasise color or new ideas which is something I am good at.
