Hi Tony, we’re so appreciative of you taking the time to share your nuggets of wisdom with our community. One of the topics we think is most important for folks looking to level up their lives is building up their self-confidence and self-esteem. Can you share how you developed your confidence?
I developed my confidence and self esteem gradually. I was always a shy kid growing up. It wasn’t until I started doing standup comedy when I was 16 that I gained life confidence. Standup comedy is essentially public speaking, once you can conquer communicating in front of a group of strangers your confidence level grows.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
Hi, I’m Tony Cobain. I’m a Comedian, Actor, and Recording Artist. I am the founder of Tony Cobain Studios(production company) and Laughter is Life(non profit organization)
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
The skills and qualities that are most impactful in my journey are: the ability to communicate, being consistent, and having discipline. For the people who are just starting this journey, all of these are vital to your success. You have to know how to properly communicate in order to convey your message, consistency is what keeps your brand relevant, and discipline is required because you are more than likely your own boss(depending on what you do) and you have to have the discipline to manage the success of your business.
Before we go, maybe you can tell us a bit about your parents and what you feel was the most impactful thing they did for you?
The most impactful thing both my parents are doing for me is just being very supportive and being two of my biggest cheerleaders.
