We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Brooklyn Jones. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Brooklyn below.
Brooklyn, we’re so excited for our community to get to know you and learn from your journey and the wisdom you’ve acquired over time. Let’s kick things off with a discussion on self-confidence and self-esteem. How did you develop yours?
I cultivate my confidence and self-esteem through a systematic approach. I break down larger goals into smaller, achievable steps, celebrating each success along the way. Actively challenging negative thoughts, I replace them with positive affirmations, emphasizing my strengths and acknowledging accomplishments. Embracing imperfections, I recognize that nobody is flawless, and learning from mistakes is integral to personal growth. It’s important to understand that the journey of developing confidence and self-esteem is gradual and unique to each individual. Discovering strategies that personally resonate is key to this transformative process.
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I am a professional photographer based in Atlanta, Georgia, with my roots originating from St. Louis, Missouri. Over the past two years, I have dedicated myself to the art of photography, establishing my business under the name Bkvisual.z. My journey began in Nashville, Tennessee, where I honed my skills at my HBCU, and later, I relocated to Atlanta to further pursue my passion.
Throughout my time in Atlanta, I have seized numerous opportunities to collaborate with well-known individuals and have been fortunate to receive valuable advice on enhancing my skills as a businesswoman. The dedication and hard work I have invested in developing my craft have been instrumental in creating the foundation of my business, and I am committed to continuous growth and excellence in my field.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
In the early stages of my photographic journey, commencing at the age of 19 and progressing to my current age of 21, I have identified three paramount qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that significantly influenced my professional development. These attributes include adaptability, persistence, and a strong work ethic. I believe these qualities serve as pivotal keys to success, particularly in the realm of small business. However, it is important to note that these attributes are universally essential, transcending specific endeavors. The cultivation of these skills has been instrumental in my journey toward success.
If you knew you only had a decade of life left, how would you spend that decade?
As a photographer and business owner, I am currently grappling with the challenge of expanding the visibility of my business. This challenge is particularly pronounced for someone who identifies as shy but is deeply passionate about their craft. Networking and gaining exposure can be daunting in such circumstances. One valuable insight I can offer is the importance of cultivating confidence in both your work and yourself.
The key lies in first gaining confidence in the quality of your work, allowing it to speak for itself. Subsequently, developing self-assurance becomes essential. Acknowledging that you wield significant influence in any given environment is a transformative mindset shift. As you become more confident in your speech, demeanor, and the excellence of your work, a natural progression unfolds. This newfound confidence serves as a catalyst, fostering automatic growth and prosperity for both you and your business.
