Meet Johnny Metro

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Johnny Metro a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Johnny , thank you so much for taking the time to share your lessons learned with us and we’re sure your wisdom will help many. So, one question that comes up often and that we’re hoping you can shed some light on is keeping creativity alive over long stretches – how do you keep your creativity alive?
I believe that a lot of my creativity comes from being inspired by others, because isn’t that a big part why we create? I get inspired by new ideas from not just new advances at the theme parks and movies nd TV but my creator friends and pals who keep the creative juices flowing. Every day when I see something new and awesome my friends have cooked up I’m just eager to keep that ball rolling and make the best content I can every day.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I like to make content that really resonates with people and I think the theme park community is a great space for that. There’s a really a common bond in enjoying the parks around the world and especially in Los Angeles and SoCal where I am based. My goals are to really entertain people but also use a brand synergy not just my own personal brand but being able to showcase amazing things that other brands can do for my followers. I’ve always been a super creative person since I’m also a musician and I absolutely must pursue artistic endeavors in life to feel truly fulfilled.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
I think the biggest most important quality you can have is resilience, its not an easy thing to accomplish. Everyones journey is different and not only can you not compare yourself to others, you must also find ways to keep on pushing yourself. There will always be other creators that have achieved more or completed more than yourself, but that’s irrelevant to your personal journey. Rising above those obstacles will really place you in a good mindset for creative endavors.

Looking back over the past 12 months or so, what do you think has been your biggest area of improvement or growth?
I think that not sweating the small stuff has been a huge leap for me in the last year or so. There are so many things we can’t control and especially being a content creator we have no hold on how many views we get, how many followers, etc. Growth as a creator is not linear as much people like to define that way. If you can drown out the noise of problems that arise that you cannot control, you’ll truly be a better creator at the end of the day.
