Meet Olasunkanmi Ogunade

We recently connected with Olasunkanmi Ogunade and have shared our conversation below.

Olasunkanmi , thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts with us today. We’re excited to dive into your story and your work, but first let’s start with a broader topic that might be stopping many of our readers from pursuing their dreams – haters, nay-sayers, etc. How have you managed to persist despite haters and nay-sayers that inevitably follow folks who are doing something unique, special or off the beaten path?
In the face of negativity, I choose to stay centered on my love for photography and seek out supportive influences. I believe in using constructive criticism to improve, while ignoring baseless negativity. Mindfulness, celebrating my successes, and setting clear goals keep me motivated and focused on my vision. Embracing resilience and maintaining professionalism are key to rising above negativity and thriving in my creative journey.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
As a multi-talented media arts professional, I wear many hats, including those of a photographer, videographer, branding expert, strategic communicator, actor, journalist, and content creator. This diverse skill set allows me to delve into various creative realms, capturing and conveying stories through different mediums.

What excites me the most about my work is the ability to unleash my creativity in a continuous cycle of self-expression. I thrive on the colorful and dynamic nature of arts, using it as a vehicle to communicate my unique perspective and ideas. What sets my work apart is the seamless fusion of authentic, natural elements with cutting-edge, modern styles. I believe in the power of storytelling through visuals, and I strive to create content that resonates with audiences on a deep and meaningful and soft comical level.

My brand is experiencing significant growth, and the engagements I’ve had so far have been incredibly rewarding. I’m constantly exploring new opportunities to expand my reach and collaborate with like-minded individuals and brands who share my passion for creativity and innovation.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
As a multifaceted media arts professional, my journey has been shaped by three fundamental qualities: humility, consistency, and faith. These qualities have been pivotal in my creative pursuits and have contributed significantly to my growth and success.

Humility has been a guiding principle in my approach to art and storytelling. It has allowed me to remain open to new experiences, learn from others, and embrace diverse perspectives .

Consistency has been the cornerstone of my creative journey. Whether it’s honing my skills behind the camera, refining my storytelling abilities, or building my brand, I’ve learned that consistent effort yields remarkable results. It’s through unwavering dedication and a commitment to improvement that I’ve been able to carve out a meaningful and impactful presence in the media arts landscape.

Faith, both in myself and in a higher power, has been a source of unwavering strength. Believing in the power of my vision and remaining steadfast in the face of challenges has been essential to my growth as an artist.

For those who are embarking on their own creative journeys, I would encourage them to cultivate these qualities. Embracing humility allows us to connect with our audience on a deeper level, while consistency paves the way for sustainable growth and evolution. Furthermore, having faith in one’s abilities and in a higher power provides the resilience needed to navigate the ever-changing landscape of media arts.

Do you think it’s better to go all in on our strengths or to try to be more well-rounded by investing effort on improving areas you aren’t as strong in?
I believe that it’s important to strike a balance between leveraging our strengths and investing effort in improving areas where we may not be as strong. While it’s essential to capitalize on our strengths and passions, dedicating some effort to developing weaker areas can lead to well-rounded personal and professional growth.

Embracing our strengths allows us to shine in our chosen fields, harnessing our natural talents and propelling us toward excellence. However, being well-rounded offers a broader perspective, enabling us to adapt to diverse challenges and opportunities.
