We were lucky to catch up with Sacha Moore recently and have shared our conversation below.
Sacha, sincerely appreciate your selflessness in agreeing to discuss your mental health journey and how you overcame and persisted despite the challenges. Please share with our readers how you overcame. For readers, please note this is not medical advice, we are not doctors, you should always consult professionals for advice and that this is merely one person sharing their story and experience.
I believe accepting my mental illness as being a part of who I am rather than something I am plagued with has helped me push forward in business and life. I used to be ashamed of my mental illness, always hiding it from the world, but in recent years I have come to learn it is my flaws that make me human and relatable to others. If people can see where I have come from and have still gained success in my businesses, I believe i could be of help to someone who may be on a similar journey.
I live with mental illness, I do not suffer from it…there is a difference..
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I am a Romance author who writes about diverse characters with relatable storylines. I am also a baker, focused on homemade baked goods passed down through generations but creating a new take on the classics.
The most exciting aspect about both parts of my business is the creativity. It a huge part of who I am and how I express myself. That creativity allows me to connect with people on several levels, whether through my characters and stories or providing baked goods that remind them of home.
No matter how my business grows, I will always remain true to who I am as a person and creative.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
The three qualities that have been most important on my journey are authenticity, professionalism, and flexibility.
Always remain authentic in all you do. Most people can recognize when someone is not being genuine and will usually shy away from interacting or doing business with people because of that. Being and staying true to who you are will win in the long run.
Always remain professional when doing business. I have participated in both small and large events, and no matter what I present the same. When someone interacts with me or sees my brand, they know they are getting quality.
Always remain flexible. Life comes with challenges that we have to navigate through but remaining flexible in all aspects will help with anxiety, stress, and even allow for possible solutions to problems we never would have thought of.
What do you do when you feel overwhelmed? Any advice or strategies?
When I feel overwhelmed I take a step back. I try to find something to clear my mind whether that is an activity that relaxes me or listening to music which helps to ease my mind. We will all feel overwhelmed at some point but understanding ourselves and the methods that help us easily cope is key.
