Meet Meghan & Tracey

We recently connected with Meghan & Tracey and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Meghan & Tracey, so great to have you on the platform. There’s so much we want to ask you, but let’s start with the topic of self-care. Do you do anything for self-care and if so, do you think it’s had a meaningful impact on your effectiveness?
Meg and I have struggled for a long time to come up with a consistent self-care routine until we figured out that life is never consistent. The one thing that is guaranteed is that life will change. With each season of our lives comes different forms of self-care.

Right now I prefer a good book in my downtime and I always try to meditate in the morning. Those simple things keep my mental clarity and mood in a better place. Meg loves to paint and always incorporates simple stretches and movement into her daily routine.

Finding simple moments in your day or week to be present can help you to focus and work more efficiently in the moments you need to be “on”! Find what soothes your soul and schedule it into your week as a non-negotiable. You show up for others when you have a meeting or an appointment, so treat yourself the same and show up for your self-care!

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
Meghan & I help couples and new families capture those important milestones – maternity, newborn, and first birthday – while crafting gorgeous tangible artwork for those memories to live in their homes! Our focus is always on helping our families create lasting memories of all those fleeting moments that change sometimes all too quickly.

We show up not only as your photographers, but also your interior designers, best friends, babysitters, and cheerleaders to leave you with framed prints, canvases, and albums of the people you love most! As artists, we believe when you come to us, you should be pampered along the way and leave with well … art!

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
The three skills and areas of knowledge we find the most impactful when it comes to growth and moving forward on our journey are customer service, sales knowledge, and flexibility.

Almost any profession will require customer service, being receptive and tending to your client’s needs is a necessity. You should have compassion, understanding, and a willingness to help others and know the appropriate social cues in a given situation. This is a cornerstone to any business and even further to society in general. If you have this skill then your brand will retain the respect and trustworthiness you need to grow!

Everyone has their own perceptions of this skill – sales knowledge. Most think of the typical car salesman or even the door-to-door solicitor. Having real sales knowledge gives you the capacity for the best customer service and the ability to sell your brand and your passion. It is about authenticity and knowing what you offer can help better your client’s livelihood. We recommend to anyone, in any profession to take a course, workshop, or webinar on the art of sales. It will help you tremendously.

Flexibility is a skill that we have a hate/love relationship with! It is often a struggle and a saving grace. Knowing your limits, although seemingly counterintuitive – we have found is the best way to have fluidity in your journey. Have clear-defined goals with end dates in mind. Once you set these, it is then easy to be flexible with the journey and also know when to let go and find a different path to your goal – or even a different goal. Being open to always learning and realizing that you are never done learning is so important. No matter how many years of experience we have under our belt, we are always listening, adjusting, and taking courses to improve ourselves!

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?

We would love to branch out in the community to find local small businesses that can elevate our current offerings at our studio or even work together to fundraise within the community!
For example, any businesses that create newborn props and maternity wardrobes as well as hair and makeup artists or someone that crafts unique backdrops for sessions are all people we would love to work with! Reach out and let’s connect!

Having our studio allows us to have a faster turnaround time for couples to receive their final galleries without compromising on quality. It also offers us the opportunity to sit down with them soon after their wedding (or honeymoon!) to design their albums and wall art. We have compiled a lot of aspects of the client experience that have been missing from the Wedding experience from our families who wish their photography experience was different on their big day. With all that in mind, we have crafted a beautiful experience that caters to new couples who want that helping hand in this next chapter of their story!

So…we are calling all caters, venues, hair stylists, makeup artists, DJs, wedding planners, and videographers in the Wedding field who would want to collaborate and work together to make a future couple’s big day truly stress-free and unforgettable.
