We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Ariee. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Ariee below.
Ariee, thanks so much for taking the time to share your insights and lessons with us today. We’re particularly interested in hearing about how you became such a resilient person. Where do you get your resilience from?
My unwavering resilience is rooted in my profound understanding of my life’s purpose. Being a music artist and entrepreneur is not just a career choice for me, but a true calling that ignites a fire within me to keep pushing forward, even in the face of uncertainty.
There were many moments when I felt like giving up, when the challenges seemed insurmountable, and doubts crept in. But I refused to succumb to those feelings and instead, persevered.
I learned that not everyone in my life would support my dreams, and that was okay. My vision was not for them to see, but for me to fulfill. I had to trust my instincts and believe in myself, even when others didn’t
In times when I had no help booking shows or marketing my work, I had to take on the task myself and be my own boss. It was not easy, and there were times when I felt overwhelmed and alone, but I knew that the journey was worth it.
Following my passions and bringing my dreams to life is not an easy path, but it is a fulfilling one. It requires grit, perseverance, and an unwavering belief in oneself. And for me, the reward of pursuing my purpose is immeasurable.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I am currently focused on creating my new EP and excited to release new singles this summer under my label, AMG Music Group. Additionally, I am excited to have partnered with XLP distribution to expand my reach and grow my brand.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
The three qualities/skills that had the most significant impact on my growth were:
My Bachelor of Arts degree in Film, Theater, & Communications from the University of New Orleans. Even though I was unsure of what I wanted to do at the time, this degree gave me a solid foundation in the entertainment industry, including film business, editing, acting, and art.
My ability to write treatments and understand what tasks I could outsource versus what I could do myself. This allowed me to be self-sufficient and accomplish tasks more efficiently when shooting videos.
My proficiency in editing photos and videos, allowed me to take on more responsibilities and complete projects faster. These skills were invaluable in my journey and helped me achieve success in the entertainment industry.
Before we go, maybe you can tell us a bit about your parents and what you feel was the most impactful thing they did for you?
The most impactful thing my parents did for me was to provide unwavering support and guidance while allowing me the freedom to find my own path. They exposed me to various arts, sports, and extracurricular programs, but never put pressure on me to excel in any particular area.
Their approach allowed me to explore my interests and discover my true passions without feeling constrained or limited. I am grateful for their support and for the opportunities they provided me, which helped shape me into the person I am today.
