Meet Christine and Mass Bluewater Lavender Farm

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Christine and Mass Bluewater Lavender Farm. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Christine and Mass below.

Christine and Mass, we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?
Being resilient and staying resilient takes effort. We are both fortunate to come from very supportive families that we are strongly connected to. We also have an amazing network of friends that build us up and help us feel like we can do anything! We have a purposeful routine every day, which includes sitting down together as a family for every meal. We talk at the end of each day about our favourite parts of the day. This helps us remember to make every single day have meaning.
We also try to continue to learn from the past and our mistakes. This ensures that we don’t make the same mistake twice.
We are both optimistic and hopeful people. This was one of the things that attracted us together when we met. And we try to encourage the same in our son. This isn’t easy when you are going through tough times, but it makes a huge difference in getting through and coming out at the end even stronger.
We also take care of ourselves and each other. We are fortunate to have a beautiful property where we can be outside in nature every day. We eat well and sleep well (thank you lavender!).
And at the end of the day you just keep going! Every day is a new day to try something new and learn and grow as a person.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
We started our lavender farm in 2021 with the planting of our first 1,200 lavender plants. We have now expanded to five varieties of both English and French plants. We distill our own lavender essential oil and handmake our beautiful products. We love all the benefits of lavender, so one by one we are helping our community sleep better and live happier and calmer lives. Being a friend to the environment is also important to us. This is also why we chose lavender. We use minimal water and don’t use chemicals on our lavender plants. We use packaging that is reused and can be recycled as much as possible. We also offer discounts when you bring your bottles back to us. In the summer we open our farm up to the public to come in and enjoy the fields. And we are adding options to stay on the farm in the future. We love our community and the support that our local businesses offer each other. We have partnered with many local businesses to work together and build a strong local economy.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
The biggest impact on our success has been our desire to learn and grow every single day. Being resilient helps, as well as taking care of each other and our community. Having strong relationships with our family and friends makes us feel like anything is possible!

Who is your ideal client or what sort of characteristics would make someone an ideal client for you?
Our ideal client was so tough to define in the early days of our business. Lavender has so many benefits, it can appeal to any age, from kids to seniors, men, women. I think we are finally starting to narrow in and define our ideal client based on the particular benefit of lavender that you are seeking. Have trouble sleeping? Looking for ways to stay calm and relaxed? Looking for a place to enjoy nature and beauty? Having skin issues like acne or dry skin? Searching for a way to clean your home with all-natural solutions? All these make our ideal client, and more!
