We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Angela Faraci . We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Angela below.
Angela , we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?
I get my resilience from making everyday a meaningful one. Every day I get connected with my love ones, I make sure to get, build and maintain healthy relationships, make friends who are there to give me moral support during the times of need.
Everyday I do things that have meaning, I do things that give me a sense of purpose and success. I continue to learn from the past, I think about how i coped in past with trouble situations, I stay hopeful but I always, always take action, and very important I take care of myself.
I am very confident in my abilities to take care of stressful situations, that alone, plays a very important part of getting my resilience. I am a very positive person and I always maintain a very positive outlook, and cope with stress more effectively. Serving my community through my business, maintaining a responsible business ethic and being inclusive of everyone is very important part of our business core values.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I like to describe myself as a very outgoing woman, who is disciplined, optimist, one who loves to provide, help and solve problems. I am in love with coffee and this is the reason I am in the coffee business. I am a barista at heart, I enjoyed conversations with everyone who comes to visit, whether they are here to get a cup of coffee or just stop by to say hello, sit and enjoy the day. We listen to our customers stories for free!
I am the founder and owner of ESPRESSO ME, we are slowly rebranding our name to ESPRESSO ME CAFE, the most exciting part about all this, is looking back at our journey and seeing how far we have come.
We are currently looking to partner with someone who can educate people with special needs, educate them to work with us and help us serve our community. We believe that the special needs community is often left out and we want to make the difference, we want them to feel part of us, and find a self of belonging in the coffee community.
We are currently looking to expand, we are looking for a location where we can share good times with our family and friends. We are also looking to bring coffee from different regions in Colombia, single origin coffees, where we partner directly with the farmers. It is very important to collaborate with our farmers, since coffee is a product that is commercializing rapidly and our farmers are not getting pay fair for their product or their hard work.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Looking back at my journey, I think about all the skills that I have, and which ones are the three that come to my mind right now.
Organizational skills are definitely one that is most important not only as an entrepreneur, organization is something that everyone needs for our daily life routines, much more while starting a business from the ground up.
Problem-Solving-Techniques, one must be ready to solve problems, as a paddler vendor, we will encounter problems everyday, problems could be, generator problems, cooling issues with our equipment, or something as simple as supplies, being able to maintain a positive outlook during problematic times is imperative in order to succeed in this business or any business.
Last but not least Adaptability, we have to be able to adapt to not only environmental changes, but also to life changes. In addition our aspirations have a direct impact on how disciplined we are, and how flexible we can be to be successful.
I highly recommend to anyone who is starting a business, that they must do the research before they start the journey, one tends to look at the glamour of things, not knowing that behind the scenes many parts are constantly moving, it takes tenacity, discipline and a lot of sacrifice, before we start seeing the fruits of our hard work. I recommend that if someone wants to be a restaurant owner, then they should work in a restaurant from the bottom up, from being a dishwasher, to being a bar back, a server, a prep person, a cook, a chef and then become an owner. Getting involve in many operational positions allows to understand the whole operation, and minimize the chance of failure, or maybe change ones mind and decide, to pursue other career or other business objectives.
