We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Somos la Semilla USA Ricky Martin Fan Club a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Somos la Semilla USA , you’ve got such an interesting story, but before we jump into that, let’s first talk about a topic near and dear to us – generosity. We think success, happiness and wellbeing depends on authentic generosity and empathy and so we’d love to hear about how you become such a generous person – where do you think your generosity comes from?
We are a community of like-minded fans who are inspired by Ricky’s continuous efforts to educate about human trafficking, advocate for basic human rights, and his philanthropic work. Through organizing volunteer events and virtual initiatives, we aim to contribute to Ricky’s social work and give back to our community.
At Somos la Semilla, we believe that generosity is a core value that can help shape and transform our society.

Through our volunteer events, we create opportunities for our members to contribute their time and skills to various causes, whether it’s supporting local charities, organizing fundraisers, or participating in community service projects.

Somos la Semilla USA is an official Ricky Martin fan club dedicated not only to promoting Ricky’s career but, more importantly, his philanthropic work and efforts to educate about human trafficking and basic human rights. As a group of dedicated fans spread all over the USA, Puerto Rico, and various countries, we take immense pride in supporting Ricky’s philanthropic endeavors.
We extend an open invitation to fans like us who not only want to share their love for Ricky but also join us in our volunteer efforts and virtual initiatives.
Somos la Semilla USA is more than just a fan club – it is a community of fans united by our love for Ricky Martin and our commitment to making a positive impact in the world. By joining us, you not only get to celebrate Ricky’s exceptional talent but also contribute to his philanthropic endeavors.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
As avid fans of Ricky Martin, we are committed to not only celebrating his music but also continuing his impactful philanthropic work.
Perseverance:
Perseverance has been a driving force in our journey. Inspired by Ricky Martin’s own perseverance in overcoming obstacles and using his fame for positive change, we have organized numerous volunteer events and virtual initiatives that aim to make a difference in the lives of others.
Patience:
In our pursuit of philanthropy, we have learned the importance of patience. Just as Ricky Martin’s influence extends far beyond his music, we understand that creating lasting impact requires time and dedication. Our initiatives are not mere one-time events; rather, we strive to establish long-term partnerships with organizations and communities in need.
We have established partnerships with the Ricky Martin Foundation in PuertoRico & The Down Syndrome Organization in Central Florida.

At the core of our commitment to philanthropy is a strong willingness to give back.

What is the number one obstacle or challenge you are currently facing and what are you doing to try to resolve or overcome this challenge?
One of the biggest challenges we face is aligning everyone’s busy schedules with our volunteer efforts. We understand that life can be hectic, and finding time to volunteer can be a difficult task. However, we firmly believe that it is through collective action that we can create significant change. Even though it may be challenging, we continue to persevere because we know the difference we can make when we come together.
To overcome the challenge of gathering enough volunteers, our goal is to expand our fan base by inviting people who share our same passion for Ricky’s philanthropic work. By reaching out to more fans, we can create a network of individuals who are eager to participate in our charity events. Together, we can amplify our impact and make an even bigger difference in the lives of those in need.
