Meet Alicia Janay

We recently connected with Alicia Janay and have shared our conversation below.

Alicia , thank you so much for joining us and offering your lessons and wisdom for our readers. One of the things we most admire about you is your generosity and so we’d love if you could talk to us about where you think your generosity comes from.
My generosity stems from being a God-fearing individual. I find joy in giving, recognizing that joy is not bestowed by the world and cannot be taken away by it. Being generous brings me happiness and fulfillment. Making others smile is a goal of mine!

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
Formally known as Laced Up and Lashed Up, Beauty and the Weave has rebranded and gone mobile! We drive to clients and service them in the van, also known and the “Beauty Mobile”. I am co-owner of our family-owned 360 photo booth business, Tas 360 Captures. What’s truly special about both business is having the ability to make people smile, mentor and encourage them, build strong relationships with my clients, while enhancing their beauty.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Looking back, three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge are being understanding, having effective communication skills, and creating a comfortable atmosphere.

For those starting their journey, focus on understanding diverse hair types and styles through continuous learning. Hone effective communication skills by actively listening to clients and offering thoughtful responses. Creating a comfortable atmosphere involves attention to detail in your workspace and developing a welcoming demeanor. Practice these qualities consistently, seek mentorship, and stay updated on industry trends to evolve and improve your skills over time.

Okay, so before we go, is there anyone you’d like to shoutout for the role they’ve played in helping you develop the essential skills or overcome challenges along the way?
God has been most helpful in overcoming challenges and building the necessary skills needed to be successful. He has never left me or forsaken me!
