We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Moosar a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Moosar, so great to be with you and I think a lot of folks are going to benefit from hearing your story and lessons and wisdom. Imposter Syndrome is something that we know how words to describe, but it’s something that has held people back forever and so we’re really interested to hear about your story and how you overcame imposter syndrome.
Despite imposter syndrome plaguing me every so often, I am in a process of learning to accept myself as I am and realizing that being myself is my unique special super power. I do this by ensuring I remain true to who I am by not being swayed by other people’s opinions, but valuing the real me. I have also learned how to celebrate and congratulate myself for my wins while reminding myself that I am worthy and capable of anything, and my dreams can and will become my reality.
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
Title: Harmonizing Science and Creativity: A Dual Journey of a Scientist and Social Media Maven
I am a professional who not only holds a degree in Biology with a minor in Psychology but have also established a notable presence as a social media model, creator, and influencer.
My story unfolds at the intersection of precision and creativity, where scientific acumen converges with the artistry of content creation. With a decade-long commitment to scientific research, I embark on a journey that transcends traditional career boundaries, proving that one can successfully navigate two seemingly disparate worlds.
The allure of being a creator lies in the transformative process of filming and editing, culminating in the creation of a masterpiece. Whether crafting intricate long-form narratives or distilling impactful stories into short-form content, I bring a unique blend of scientific precision and creative flair to the final product.
The most exciting part for me is seeing the culmination of the filming and editing process. Adding music, effects, and edits to a video feels like crafting a symphony, and witnessing the final product is incredibly rewarding. It’s as if, in a different life, I was born a director/editor of filming.
Yet, the path to content creation excellence is not without its challenges. One needs to be patient, independent, and dedicated in this process. From shooting numerous angles alone to overcoming technical obstacles like app crashes, storage issues, and vanishing clips, I have learned to navigate the intricate landscape of content creation with resilience and resourcefulness. My skills honed over a decade as a researcher have proven advantageous, turning challenges into opportunities for growth. Being a researcher has equipped me with problem-solving skills that seamlessly transfer to the world of content creation. It’s about adapting, finding solutions, and embracing the journey, whether it’s in the research field or behind the camera.
The dedication required to excel in both realms is a testament to my unwavering commitment. Balancing the demands of content creation with a full-time career requires meticulous time management, particularly when collaborating with brands, meeting deadlines, and delivering on commitments. It’s a delicate dance that I perform with grace and resilience. It’s not easy, but to me, it’s worth it and very rewarding.
In a world that often seeks to categorize individuals, I stand as a beacon of inspiration, showcasing the power of embracing diverse passions and skill sets. I encourage everyone to explore the multidimensional aspects within themselves, demonstrating that a life lived authentically can transcend the confines of traditional career trajectories. There are extraordinary possibilities that emerge when one fearlessly follows their heart and crafts a that’s narrative uniquely their own.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Reflecting on my journey, these are the qualities and skills that have played a pivotal role in shaping both my scientific social media careers. 1. Adaptability: The ability to adapt to changing circumstances has been crucial. In the dynamic world of social media and research, unexpected challenges are inevitable. Being adaptable allows you to navigate uncertainties, pivot when necessary, and find innovative solutions. My advice for those starting their journey is to cultivate a mindset of adaptability. Embrace change as an opportunity for growth, stay curious and be open to learning from every experience.
2. Problem-Solving Skills: Whether troubleshooting technical issues in content creation or addressing complex research challenges, honing problem-solving skills has been invaluable. Early in your journey, actively seek opportunities to problem-solve. Embrace challenges as learning opportunities, break down complex issues into manageable steps, and don’t be afraid to ask for guidance. Every problem you encounter is a chance to develop and refine your problem-solving abilities. Remember, mistakes are a necessary part of learning and everyone that has made it, started from somewhere.
3. Time Management: Balancing a full-time career with content creation requires effective time management. Prioritizing tasks, setting realistic goals, and maintaining a disciplined schedule have been instrumental. To those starting out, my advice is to develop strong time management habits early. Understand your priorities, create a schedule that accommodates both your career and creative pursuits, and be disciplined in adhering to it. Consistent and intentional time management will help you make steady progress in both aspects of your journey.
For individuals that are early in their journey, my overarching advice is to embrace your passions. Don’t feel confined by societal expectations. Instead, leverage your unique combination of skills and interests to carve a path that aligns with your authentic self. Seek mentorship, surround yourself with a supportive community, and view challenges as steppingstones toward personal and professional growth. Remember, the most fulfilling journeys are often those where you stay true to yourself and continually evolve along the way.
How can folks who want to work with you connect?
I am open to collaborative opportunities that align with my passion especially in content creation. I believe that collaboration fosters creativity and innovation, and I am eager to explore partnerships that can bring diverse perspectives to my projects.
I am particularly interested in collaborating with fellow content creators who share a curiosity for creative expression while remaining true to who they are. Whether you are a researcher like me with a unique story to tell, or a content creator with a keen interest in filming and editing, I would love to connect and explore collaborative projects that will showcase my skills in not only content creation but research as well.
