We recently connected with Nackie Fiso-Moli and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have Nackie with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?
My work ethic is driven by my desire for a better life for myself and my children, as well as for Pacific Islanders. I am motivated by the belief that hard work and drive are the keys to success. My mother is my role model and has influenced my work ethic greatly. I watched her work tirelessly to raise me and my brothers, starting off as a hotel maid and working her way up to become a manager.
I firmly believe that hard work is necessary to achieve the best outcomes. Therefore, I hold myself accountable to a schedule and set goals for myself every day. By doing so, I can stay focused and disciplined, and continue to strive towards my goals. Overall, my work ethic is shaped by a combination of my personal values and experiences, as well as my desire to make a positive impact on the world around me.
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
As the co-founder of a nonprofit organization and a co-host of a podcast geared towards Pacific Islanders, my work is focused on promoting and showcasing Pacific Islander role models and entrepreneurs. What sets our organization apart is that we specifically focus on Pacific Islanders, and we travel all over the country to showcase what success looks like for people who look like our audience.
Personally, I find the most exciting aspect of my work is the opportunity to travel and meet new people who are pursuing their dreams and living their best lives. I believe that sharing their stories and experiences with our audience can inspire others to do the same.
One recent development that we’re excited about is that we have our own studio. Before, we were working out of my dining room during the pandemic, and then we were able to use a free space for about 4 hours a week. However, we realized that we needed more time and space, so we decided to get a studio of our own. This has allowed us to expand our operations and create more content for our audience.
At the heart of our work is the goal of getting people what they want. We believe in sharing people’s information or products to help them move forward, and we are committed to continuing to promote and showcase Pacific Islander role models and entrepreneurs. Overall, our mission is to inspire and empower our audience to pursue their dreams and achieve their goals.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Reflecting on my journey so far, I believe there are three qualities that have been most impactful: drive, hard work, and the ability to hold myself accountable.
Firstly, my drive for a better life for myself and my family, as well as for Pacific Islanders, has kept me focused and motivated throughout my journey. I believe it’s important to have a clear vision of what you want to achieve and to keep that in mind as you work towards your goals.
Secondly, my belief in hard work has been essential in helping me overcome challenges and achieve success. I think that working hard and striving for excellence is key to achieving the best outcomes. Even when things are difficult, it’s important to keep pushing and stay committed to your goals.
Lastly, holding myself accountable to a schedule and setting daily goals has helped me stay organized and focused on my priorities. This has been particularly important as I juggle multiple responsibilities as a co-founder and co-host.
For folks who are early in their journey, my advice would be to focus on developing these three qualities – drive, hard work, and accountability – as well as seeking out opportunities to learn and grow. It’s important to have a clear vision of what you want to achieve, but also to be adaptable and open to new ideas and opportunities. Surround yourself with people who inspire and support you, and don’t be afraid to ask for help or guidance when you need it. Most importantly, stay committed and persistent in pursuing your goals, even when faced with challenges or setbacks.
Alright, so before we go we want to ask you to take a moment to reflect and share what you think you would do if you somehow knew you only had a decade of life left?
Currently, one of the biggest challenges I am facing is finding the right balance between my personal life, my work with the nonprofit organization, and my podcasting responsibilities. As I continue to grow and expand our organization, I find myself juggling multiple priorities and trying to be efficient with my time.
To address this challenge, I am working on developing better time-management strategies and setting more realistic goals for myself. I am also making sure to take breaks and prioritize self-care to avoid burnout. Additionally, I am seeking out the support of my co-founder and other team members to help share the workload and make sure we are all working towards our goals efficiently.
Overall, I believe that finding a balance between personal and professional responsibilities is an ongoing challenge that many people face, and it requires a combination of good time-management skills, effective delegation, and self-care to overcome.
