We were lucky to catch up with Kasey Burton recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Kasey, we’re so appreciative of you taking the time to share your nuggets of wisdom with our community. One of the topics we think is most important for folks looking to level up their lives is building up their self-confidence and self-esteem. Can you share how you developed your confidence?
My confidence and self-esteem is all rooted in my identity that I have in Christ. When I was younger and I had realized that Jesus the most blameless and perfect person that has ever walked this earth had haters…. It made me really comfortable with the idea of not being liked by everyone.
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
My goal with my artistry is to be the kind of musician I needed when I was younger. Ever since I was little, music and church have been the two biggest influences in my life. I always desired to have a musician I could look up to who also shared the same faith. Now that I am older and have a little more life experience, I have a deeper understanding of what kind of messages I want to put out there with my music. I of course want to release music that is uplifting and positive, but I also want to release music that is so honest it kind of scares me to release it. I want to shed light to problems that most Christians and musicians are too scared to talk about. I want to be that voice that reminds people they aren’t alone in their struggles.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
The thing that has impacted my journey the most is a shift in mindset. I don’t know why, but I feel like it’s very easy to fall victim to the “when I get discovered” mindset and it wasn’t til I changed this out for a more “DIY” way of thinking that I started seeing results. The first approach is way more luck and wishful thinking based while the second one actually requires action. My advice for anyone who is just beginning their music career is to memorize and YouTube everything you can about music business.
