Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Woo Monáe. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Woo, so great to have you with us and we want to jump right into a really important question. In recent years, it’s become so clear that we’re living through a time where so many folks are lacking self-confidence and self-esteem. So, we’d love to hear about your journey and how you developed your self-confidence and self-esteem.
When you are molding into something new you need God’s people around you to uplift you in that part of your life. It can start in your younger years or when you’re older. For me my confidence and self-esteem was first built by my mom. She would always tell me how beautiful, smart, kind and all these other amazing things about myself. Like most kids you first believe that as a mother that that’s what she supposed to do. Tell me I’m the best, duh. Then out of nowhere you realize how much it actually matters that she was over pouring love like that. You get this extra superpower nudge like “my mama said y’all just jealous of me” and that matters. That actually do start to build your self-esteem. You have to hold on to it though because the world is mean and they will try to break you. What you think of yourself is the only opinion that truly matters. If you gotta fake it till it’s real do that! One day it will actually be real and you’ll be so happy that you didn’t let anyone steal your joy.
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I am a model, a digital creator, a serial entrepreneur, and overall an influencer. With that being said I’m always doing a little bit of something. I think I like to show little girls that look like me that you can do whatever you set your mind to and don’t ever have to box yourself in. The most exciting thing about what I do is that somehow someway it all comes together for God’s purpose. It all matters in the long run, and things I learn in one field ties together in another aspect of my life just coming full circle. Another exciting thing is the people, support, and community you gain alone the way. So be nice to everyone because you never know how God plan to use them in your story.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Oh forsure my personality, the way I treat others, and my optimistic outlook on the world is definitely the most impactful on my journey. I thank God everyday for these qualities. These are soooo important because these alone can get you through so many doors. Best way to improve these is to change your mindset really. Do the work inside and soon the way you act and show up outside will match up with each other.
What is the number one obstacle or challenge you are currently facing and what are you doing to try to resolve or overcome this challenge?
OMG. Right now the number one obstacle I’m facing is staying consistent. This is so challenging right now because some days I wake up and just don’t feel like doing anything but feelings lie. They lie so much, you cannot rely on them to get you through everything. Even though I’m not where I want to be or seeing the results I would like to see just yet I keep going. You’ve got to do it when you don’t feel\want to. That’s what set you apart from the people that say they want it and the people that’s gonna make it happen. The choice is yours, so work for it and don’t give up. I’m literally just taking it day by day working through whatever and doing it no matter how I feel that day. Some days I feel on top of the world and that be enough to work but other days I might feel down and don’t really want to do anything that’s when I rely on how I want my future to be and that will give me motivation to continue. Some days I just have to lean on my support team to uplift me or even hold me accountable for my actions.
