We recently connected with Erick Gerson Rodriguez and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Erick Gerson , we’re so appreciative of you taking the time to share your nuggets of wisdom with our community. One of the topics we think is most important for folks looking to level up their lives is building up their self-confidence and self-esteem. Can you share how you developed your confidence?
I learned over the years that what brings me joy is being confident in my work and the things I love to do. It took some time to reassure myself that I’m good at what I do, without being snooty or feeling better than anybody else. In fact I can be very critical of myself but having confidence and telling yourlsef you’re worthy of all your successes and achievements.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
My name is Erick Gerson i always loved art and painting then when I was introduced to makeup I knew it was the path I wanted to take. I’m involved in theater, weddings, Media and other events that I can collaborate.
Every year I donate my time and services for non profit organizations and events.
Currently I have a new makeup studio located in downtown Grand Rapids where everybody is welcome to learn makeup through the different classes I teach, or to come for a makeover.
My new service launch is a lip bar where people can come and create their own lipstick.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
First of all show the love you have for your work and reflect it in your customers.
Network and build relationships with other professionals and potential clients.
And lastly keep your work current, for example attending to trainings, educational courses abs events that help yourself and your business stay on top of the game.
Is there a particular challenge you are currently facing?
As a small business sometimes you get into a routine and sometimes I’m afraid of changes in the way I do things and also taking the first step on new challenges. And what helps me with it is to know that after taking the first step and obstacle everything becomes easier if I put enough effort to it.
