Meet Ky Ngo

We recently connected with Ky Ngo and have shared our conversation below.

Ky, appreciate you making time for us and sharing your wisdom with the community. So many of us go through similar pain points throughout our journeys and so hearing about how others overcame obstacles can be helpful. One of those struggles is keeping creativity alive despite all the stresses, challenges and problems we might be dealing with. How do you keep your creativity alive?
I nurture my creativity by going on fun road trips, exploring art galleries, enjoying beautiful sunsets, and most of all, organizing photo meet-ups with my friends. We challenge each other to be creative in a short time, working together to make awesome art!

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
Currently, I’m a video editor working with Samsung Mobile. I thrive on uncovering the behind-the-scenes magic of the latest devices and collaborating with diverse influencers. Witnessing their passion for their brand and skills is truly inspiring. Working alongside fellow artists is where the real magic happens. This year, I’m gearing up for more personal projects, exploring what I can create by shooting and editing with my device. Can’t wait to see where creativity takes me!

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
I have been in this industry for nearly 15 years. Reflecting on my journey, three crucial elements stand out. Firstly, the ability to set aside personal feelings and prioritize bringing the client’s vision to life has been paramount. Secondly, I firmly believe in working smart rather than just working hard, always seeking multiple ways to enhance workflow without being confined to current practices. Lastly, acknowledging moments of feeling stuck in one’s career or creativity is normal. Surrounding oneself with the right people is instrumental in overcoming such challenges. For those at the early stages of their journey, my advice is to cultivate these qualities diligently, constantly evolve your workflow, and build a supportive network to navigate the ups and downs of professional growth.

Before we go, maybe you can tell us a bit about your parents and what you feel was the most impactful thing they did for you?
Growing up with a single, strong-willed mom was profoundly impactful for a young girl like me. My mom, boldly leaving her life in Vietnam, embarked on a journey across the world to forge a new life for herself and her two daughters. Raising us and later grandchildren alone, she encountered kindhearted people along the way, but it was her unwavering determination that truly inspired me. From her, I learned the value of setting clear goals and working diligently to achieve them without complaint. When I expressed my desire to attend art school, my mom didn’t discourage me; instead, she acknowledged the challenges of that career path and wholeheartedly believed in my abilities.
