Meet Samantha Bailey

We recently connected with Samantha Bailey and have shared our conversation below.

Samantha, thank you so much for taking the time to share your lessons learned with us and we’re sure your wisdom will help many. So, one question that comes up often and that we’re hoping you can shed some light on is keeping creativity alive over long stretches – how do you keep your creativity alive?
I love to challenge myself with new activities or hobbies as much as I can! I know that there are so many things that I want to try but are still sitting unchecked on my bucket list. My goal is to add as many skills as possible to my resume! I also love that by doing these things and learning how they are done. What makes it even better, I am building new friendships and connections at the same time. It overjoys me to see how the teachers or friends that are showing me how to do something new are so happy to give that guidance to me about what they know! I am a teacher too and I know how excited I get when someone I am sharing my passion with, accepts me and shares the enthusiasm. Seeing other people being so passionate about their work is what keeps my own creativity alive! It gives me the encouragement to keep going and give chances to things that are outside of my comfort zone.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I am an actress, model and influencer based in Los Angeles, California. I have been in the entertainment industry since I was 4 1/2 years old. It has been a crazy journey learning and growing with everything that comes my way. I am currently training and auditioning for new shows and movies. I absolutely love what I do, and I hope that my work inspires others to follow their passions as well! When I am not in front of the camera, I teach preschool acting classes and ballet and hip-hop dance classes to my students ages 3-9 years old. It makes me so happy to see my student’s willingness to learn and their excitement about dancing or acting! I am focused on my content creation as well on my social media accounts. I am part of a female digital content collective called The Sorority Girlz. These girls are really like sisters to me, and I love building our friendships and watching our channels grow together!

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Three things that were super helpful for me to learn early on in my career were: 1. To be okay with rejection. This industry is not for the faint of heart. You have to accept that you are not always going to get told “Yes” to every audition you go out for. And for each of those “No’s” you receive, you can’t let that knock you down. It is crucial that you keep going and keep doing your best while also listening to any feedback you might have gotten from that previous rejection.
2. Don’t be afraid of “new” things. Take risks and give it your all no matter what you are attempting. Life is far too short to only give half of yourself to anything. I think that even if you mess up or things don’t go exactly perfect, that is okay! What matters is that you tried it and didn’t give up. Probably nobody is going to be great at something on the first try so if it is something that you have even the slightest interest in, maybe it is worth giving it another go or focusing on practicing that skill more on your own time.
3. Have fun and laugh it off! I think being humans, we sometimes forget this. Life is about having fun and enjoying ourselves. I like to try and stay positive in any situation. Looking on the brighter side or giving things the benefit of the doubt tends to make a better outlook on these situations and thus leading to a happier memory. Not everything is going to go exactly how one plans it to be, but it is up to yourself to turn it into something that might be a good story to tell later!

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
I am always looking to make new connections or collaborations with brands or people that share the same interests! If there is anything that I have mentioned or shared on my social media that sparks an interest to someone, please feel free to reach out to me and I’d love to chat!
