Meet AF Junior

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to AF Junior. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Hi AF, appreciate you sitting with us today to share your wisdom with our readers. So, let’s start with resilience – where do you get your resilience from?
I get my resilience from my mother. She’s not just a source of inspiration; she’s the bedrock of my determination. Her unwavering support has been the driving force behind my pursuit of dreams, no matter how lofty they may seem. Growing up, I witnessed her extraordinary journey. Hailing from a humble small town, my mother faced challenges that would have deterred many. What sets her apart is not just her humble beginnings but the fact that she achieved success with only a primary education.
In the heart of that small town, my mother’s story began. Her early life was not defined by abundance or privilege but by hard work and tenacity. Despite having only a grade school education, she became a beacon of wisdom, surpassing the knowledge of many with formal degrees.
I’ve learned that accurate intelligence is not confined to academic accolades. My mother’s street-smart wisdom and practical insights have proven more valuable than any textbook knowledge. Her experiences have shown me that learning extends far beyond the walls of a classroom.
My mother’s resilience stems from an innate wisdom that surpasses the constraints of formal education. Her ability to navigate life’s challenges with grace and intelligence has been a constant inspiration. She has taught me that setbacks are not roadblocks but opportunities for growth.
In her stories, I find lessons that extend beyond the academic curriculum. She emphasizes the importance of perseverance, adaptability, and a positive mindset. These qualities, she insists, are the cornerstones of resilience.
As I navigate the corridors of formal education, my mother’s journey reminds me that true intelligence goes beyond grades and certificates. It lies in the ability to face adversity head-on, to adapt and overcome, and to cultivate a spirit of continuous learning.
My mother’s lack of formal education never hindered her from being one of the most intelligent individuals I know. This realization propels me forward, motivating me to seek knowledge not for the sake of grades but for personal growth and understanding.
Witnessing my mother’s journey instills in me a drive to be a better person overall. Her resilience serves as a constant reminder that success is not defined solely by academic achievements but by the ability to face challenges with determination.
In the pursuit of my dreams, I carry with me the invaluable lessons she has imparted. I am fueled not only by ambition but by the unwavering belief that resilience, wisdom, and a thirst for knowledge will propel me toward a future where success is measured by the content of character and the depth of understanding.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I am the founder and historian of The Spectrum’s Voice. One of my notable contributions to literature is my exploration of gay fiction, where I skillfully portray the multifaceted dimensions of human identity. Instead of solely focusing on the challenges faced by the LGBTQ+ community, my writing breathes life into characters who navigate various obstacles, showcasing the universal struggles and triumphs that define the human condition. I’ve left an indelible mark on the literary landscape, publishing a substantial body of work. My portfolio includes fiction and non-fiction books, which have found homes in various online platforms, anthologies, and publications. Through my captivating storytelling and evocative poetry, I’ve connected with readers around the globe, inviting them to explore the nuances of emotion, love, and resilience.
Beyond my role as an author, I’ve made significant contributions to journalism. My insightful articles have graced the pages of various online magazines, where I share perspectives that challenge and inspire readers to broaden their understanding of the world.
In addition to my prolific writing career, I am recognized as a mentor, guiding aspiring writers and creators on their own creative journeys. My commitment to fostering talent and nurturing the next generation of storytellers shows my dedication to the literary community.
As a publicist, I’ve been instrumental in bringing attention to diverse voices in literature, ensuring that unique and underrepresented stories find their way into the spotlight. My advocacy for inclusivity and representation has had a lasting impact on the literary landscape.
With a passion for history, I’ve also assumed the role of a historian, weaving tales that connect the past with the present. Through my exploration of historical narratives, I enrich the understanding of cultures and societies, fostering a deeper appreciation for the tapestry of human history.
My journey is characterized by creativity, compassion, and a relentless commitment to amplifying the voices of those often unheard. As a founder and historian, I continue to shape the literary world and inspire others to embrace the power of storytelling as a force for positive change.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Looking back, I believe that my three defining assets as a person have significantly shaped my journey. Firstly, my identity as a gay Mexican man has been a cornerstone of my existence, influencing my experiences with discrimination and acceptance. Navigating the complexities of my own identity has not only been a personal journey but has also fueled my creative expression, particularly in the realm of literature. The challenges and triumphs associated with being a part of the LGBTQ+ community have become a wellspring of inspiration for my writing. By delving into the intricacies of my own plight, I aim to contribute to a broader narrative that fosters understanding and empathy. Through my literary endeavors, I strive to illuminate the nuances of the human experience, breaking down barriers and building bridges of connection.
Secondly, my ability to seamlessly blend into various situations has been a valuable asset throughout my life. Whether in literary circles, social settings, or professional environments, I have found a way to adapt and connect with diverse groups of people. This adaptability has not only enriched my personal relationships but has also allowed me to explore different perspectives and broaden my understanding of the world.
This skill has played a pivotal role in my work as a writer, journalist, and publicist, enabling me to communicate effectively with a broad audience. It has allowed me to bridge gaps and foster dialogue, ultimately contributing to a more inclusive and interconnected literary landscape.
Lastly, my insatiable curiosity about the world around me has been a driving force in my personal and intellectual pursuits. Whether exploring the pages of history, unraveling the intricacies of etymology, or delving into the reasons behind the way things are, my inquisitive nature has been a guiding light.
This curiosity has not only fueled my passion for storytelling but has also informed my role as a historian. By connecting the threads of the past with the present, I strive to enrich the understanding of cultures and societies. This deep dive into the roots of human history has not only broadened my own perspective but has also allowed me to share these insights with others, fostering a collective appreciation for the complexities that shape our world.
In essence, my identity, adaptability, and curiosity are the pillars that uphold my personal and professional journey. They have sculpted my narrative, allowing me to contribute meaningfully to the literary world and beyond.

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
In my quest for like-minded individuals within the Spectrum (LGBTQIA+) and allies, I am driven by a deep-rooted passion to amplify voices and shed light on the challenges that humanity faces. One of the critical issues we confront is the deliberate and government-sanctioned discrimination against individuals based on their identity. I am on a mission to bring together those who possess a strong desire to make a difference, to challenge the existing norms, and to advocate for a more inclusive and compassionate world. It is disheartening to witness the persistence of discrimination against LGBTQIA+ individuals, sanctioned at times by governmental institutions. This discrimination not only denies us our fundamental human rights but also perpetuates a culture of inequality. My goal is to assemble a collective of individuals who are committed to dismantling these barriers and bringing about meaningful change.
I am actively seeking individuals who are ready to use their voices as instruments of change. Those who understand the power of storytelling, advocacy, and education in shaping public perception and policy. We are not just statistics; we are humans with emotions, dreams, and the same fundamental rights as anyone else. By joining forces, we can articulate our experiences, making them tangible for those who may not fully comprehend the struggles we endure.
Medical care, acceptance, and equal rights are not privileges but fundamental aspects of the human experience. Together, we can work towards dismantling the misconceptions and prejudices that obstruct these basic rights. By collaborating with allies who empathize with our cause, we can bridge the gap between communities and foster a more compassionate and understanding society.
This call is not just a plea for unity; it is an invitation to be part of a movement that seeks to rewrite the narrative surrounding LGBTQIA+ individuals. By sharing our stories, we can humanize the struggles and triumphs, breaking down the walls of discrimination brick by brick. Through collective efforts, we aim to educate the public, challenge stereotypes, and inspire empathy.
The journey ahead requires resilience, courage, and a steadfast commitment to creating lasting change. Together, as a diverse and united front, we can challenge the status quo and advocate for a world where every individual, regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity, is treated with dignity, respect, and equality. If you share this vision, I invite you to join me in this transformative journey towards a more just and inclusive future.
