We recently connected with Alexandria (Lexi) Williams and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Alexandria (Lexi), we’re so appreciative of you taking the time to share your nuggets of wisdom with our community. One of the topics we think is most important for folks looking to level up their lives is building up their self-confidence and self-esteem. Can you share how you developed your confidence?
It took many years of grueling, hard work. It took me a long time to be as confident as I am today and I still have plenty of work to do! What works for me, is constantly having friends and supporters in my corner, letting me know I’m doing well in my creative endeavors and always pushing me to keep thriving.
I’d be nothing without my support system.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
Hello, my name is Alexandria although I prefer to go by Lexi. I’m a mom with a regular 8-5 who also runs a production studio called No Moon Studios, performs as a character performer for North Florida Fairytales, and I founded and run The Literary Coven (a book club) with some of my closest friends.
When I’m not performing, writing, or working on some project or other, I’m usually found reading, playing video games, or playing with my son.
I’m always running around our Jacksonville community, participating in various events, photoshoots, and attending cons with my fiancé and my best friends.
I love working in the film community here. I was blessed enough to be pulled into it by Royce Freeman many years ago and have worked on several films with him and met so many amazing and talented filmmakers within the community. One of my favorite films by Freeman Films was Limelight Shadows which I started in and also helped finalize the script and casting for.
No Moon Studios is my pride and joy (besides my son, of course). We won two awards for our very first short film competition with our short: Holidaze which you can watch now on YouTube!
I do also occasionally pop into LXS’s covers on YouTube as well. We recently covered For the First Time in Forever from Frozen on both her channel and mine as Anna and Elsa.
All in all, I’m a very creative soul with so many projects and ideas to bring into the world. I can’t wait to share them all with you.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
The three qualities I would say were most impactful in my journey are patience, kindness, and pure willpower. Patience is the hardest one I struggle with but it’s always been so rewarding. It’s hard to be patient when you finish working on a film and it takes forever to see the light of day. Of course, things happen and post production can take a while to get a film exactly the way it needs to be. I played a role in Breaking the Wheel (a short film) several years ago and it will be live to the public later this year after circulating film festivals. I’m excited to be able to share it soon.
Kindness is the most important one. Always be kind because you never know what someone might be going through. I’ve found it’s far easier to catch more flies with honey than vinegar, aka you can make far more friends and amazing connections if you’re always kind and understanding with everyone you meet.
Pure Willpower is what gets me through my day to day grind and still lets my creative juices flow. Organizing events, running a book club, performing on stage, etc all help as well but they can quickly lead to burn out if you’re not careful. Balance in your life is most important, so make sure you take the time for yourself if needed, and sometimes resting your mind and body take just as much willpower as working on a project.
Before we go, any advice you can share with people who are feeling overwhelmed?
If I feel overwhelmed, I take a deep breath, do some stretches, and try to get my mind focused. Forcing your brain to focus on your breathing can help you refocus on what you need and push away the overwhelming fear and anxiety that may be bubbling within you. I try to focus on the things I can control, and with things I can’t control, I try to let them be, knowing they’ll work themselves out in the end.
